what are the correct oils for the above does this sound right
Gear box, front final drive and center diff:
2.6 liter SAE 75W90 G005000
0.1 liter Additive G00900001
Hi,
Replaced my transmission oils recently and used Red-Line MT90 GL4 for the gearbox
and Red-Line 75W-90 GL5 for the rear diff.
Great oils and they are seperate GL4 & GL5 specs for each purpose.
I've heard good things about Castrol TAF-X as well.
One point of warning, the filler/drain plugs can corrode into the housings. Please make sure you can remove the FILLER plug first before attempting to remove the drain.
TAF-X isn't as good Millers, much closer to the genuine audi oil in fact. Millers is a genuine 75/90 and from cold can give a slightly heavier change, you can also use it in the rear diff which is what i did on my old coupe.
I bought a 5 litre bottle of morrison 75-90 fully synthetic (£30) ??? says on the back it's suitable for motorsports applications??? not in yet, hope it sorts my high speed 1st to 2nd CrUnCH and my reverse gear engage GriNd!!!!
I have a small question on this, is the rear diff oil amount the same for a 3B Coupe? I found one link to Castrol's website saying the rear diff amount was 1 litre, but I've found the most common answer is 1,5 litres, but everyone who has claimed this amount has an Avant (and they have a different rear diff). I need to know exact amount, because I have to fill from the drainplug, as the filler plug is not going anywhere. I thought the amount of oil I drained from the diff was very little, more like 0,6 litres or something.
