How much did the characteristics & dynamics change when you put the upgraded suspension on??? If you'v moded your car again I ask...How much did the characteristics & dynamics change when you did that???
If you use a V8 Torsen diff the cars not all of a sudden going to turn into a rear wheel drive car by no means!!! I think your wife & wee one will think dad really cares about us!
    But it's your car

Precisely, most active members on the forum are well aware of the V8 diff as there are multilple threads detailing the upgrade, it's not a new thing.

Knowing Dan personally it would be easier for him just to replace the diff, the V8 from forum reviews doesn't make a difference during daily commuting driving only when the car is pushed hard do you get the benefits.

Yeah I think I may well stick with stock... Might go and dial up the stiffest setting on that Whiteline at some point soon though

You already have a Torsen centre diff, it diverts more power to the end with the most grip, with it in the rear diff it'll divert power to the wheel that has most traction, it wont make the back end hang out more it'll just ultimately give more reliable traction. Some people dont like the Torsen centre diff for off road use (the older urs dont have one) I can really feel the difference between my ur and the S2, say on a wet roundabout, if you floor it you can feel the Torsen shifting the power back and forth whereas the ur just understeers untill you back off, of course the ur has 2 diff locks for ultimate traction, your S2 has one at the rear and with a rear Torsen you'd be doing away with that difflock and relying on the Torsen to get you out of that muddy field on snowy driveway, (which it would probably do quite well..)

Stiffening the whiteline, however, will likely make the back hang out..

Dan, I got rid of most of my thunk by changing the diff mounts, the powerflex centre one stopped making that vibration once the main mounts had been changed.

would you use the v8 diff for drag use??
would i get a better launch???

Thats not correct, Audiman has posted a BTDT on how to keep the rear diff lock on the V8 diff installation.

"There's got to be about 1/2inch of slack before the prop hits the next cog"

Thats where mine has worn, i can grab the prop shaft and turn it half an inch side to side before all the slack is taken up, i think its just down to wear in the crownwheel not the actual diff unit itself. If i grab reverse gear quickly i can here a metallic clank as the prop shaft takes up the slack, likewise back into 1st and let the clutch out slightly i can hear it make a clank noise as the shaft turns the other way. Thats how i first noticed it.

I dont think fitting a torsen into the case will cure the problem, you still have to reuse the crownwheel etc. I'll know when i fit the torsen :mischeif:

IIRC Dan has the powerflex rear diff mount but didn't like it. Did you remove Dan?

Indeed I do - all it seemed to do for me was increase transmission vibration quite significantly around 1600rpm, enough to skip CDs Have never got round to removing it, maybe when I change my rear diff I'll do that and go back to an OE rubber mount.
