you did have som sencors in the flywheel housin....think you have to use the 3b engine AND tranny............. and gear linkage... they arent the same

What are you trying to say ? What sensors ? Flywheel teeth and reference pin sensors come with the engine, 016 box has cut for them, also there is places for sensors which are on the 3b engine (on early urq's there were sensors on the gearbox, I don't think they can be used for 3b). Don't see any problem with that.Originally posted by caterpillaryou did have som sencors in the flywheel housin....think you have to use the 3b engine AND tranny............. and gear linkage... they arent the same

Linkage stays with a box (urq linkage for sure matches urq box
) - what's the problem ?

If your 3B comes from a 200 then use all its bits. If it comes out of a S2 then there are some points you should notice:
I think you should use the WR flywheel (+clutch stuff of course). Or MC, RR or 3B 200. If you will use something else than RR/3B 200 then make sure your starter ring toot count matches the one of 3B engines 135 tooth.
Also there is a reference pin befind the flywheel. That must be exactly as in RR/3B. I've heard of different flywheels with slightly different pin positions and not nearly all flywheels even have the pin.-Comment

thanks for the info. i have s2 3b engine and flywheel and wr engine and 016 gearbox. so what i need to do is get the wr needle bearing and tap it into the crank in the s2 3b engine. is this correct? also is there anything needed to alter on the roller bearing. i was lookin to use http://www.034motorsport.com/product...7d43359fff3683 (this flywheel with)
http://www.034motorsport.com/product...7d43359fff3683 (with this clutch). would these componets be compatable. thanks1986 urquattro 20v 3bComment

I fitted an RR engine into my type 85 Coupe quattro, retaining the 016 tranny. I used a WR flywheel and clutch, and pressed a WR needle bearing into the rear of the RR crank. All worked fine, 3B set up is exactly the same.Never show a fool a half built house.

I think from memory that you can get the centre of the 3b flywheel machined out to allow the 016 gearbox to pass through into your new bearing...Comment
