aby propshaft or shorten 3b one.
    rs2 gearbox mounts
aby/adu gearbox lincage or modify the s4 one.
subframe from aby or a spacer for one of the engine mounts.

I would like to make some additions to the answer. Hope, nobody minds.

aby propshaft or shorten 3b one.
+ there are extra options: B2/typ85 propshaft. Custom propshaft with front part from 100/200 (44) and 80/S2 rear part

      rs2 gearbox mounts
+ they can be fabricated or custom made ones may be bought on eBay. Left gearbox mount can be left from CBL (S4 4A,45) with its rubber mount. Not too elegant, but may work. Right mount has to be custom made.

aby/adu gearbox lincage or modify the s4 one.
      just small notice: S4 B5 linkage, not S4 (4A, 45)

subframe from aby or a spacer for one of the engine mounts.
I believe it is about gearbox mount.

Good info. May also do a 01E swap to my B4 at some point. Already have a trans waiting... I'll guess same things must be done?

Can it be mounted with the 3B motor flywheel?

The front subframe from a b4 with the 2.8L V6 doesn't need a 40mm spacer like the 20v subframes do.

I did same convertion in my Coupe 20V and i used:

              - CBD gearbox 01E from S4 5 speed
              - Gear mounts from a guy here in forum that sell this parts works fine to use original subframe ( B3 ) ( i can check my PM to see name of user )
              - Linkage from S4 B5
              - propshaft cut in 26mm
              - convertion 4x108 to 5x112 but you not need because originally S2 is 5x112.

              Hope help you!

Propshaft from B5 with 01E should be direct fit if you come across one. 2.5TDi or S4 2.7BT.

Direct fit with S2 3B flywheel and clutch. (NOT with 200 3B)

so the B5 propshaft is direct fit also? Might be able to source one of them easy enough.

The front part of the propshaft on some C4 S4/S6 is the right length, but you have to measure.

B5 01E(!) propshaft should be ok for 80/S2 Saloon/Avant with 01E. But not Coupe. Rear part differs in length dramatically because of rear diffs difference between Coupe and Saloon/Avant.

B5 with 01E are only 2.7 BiTurbo and 2.5TDi: quite rare (at least in my place).

Ok, so I destroyed my 01A trans. Would be good to fit the 01E, but will see if I can source all needed parts quickly... Is the driveaxle flanges right size in my B4 80? Anyone have measures to share for custom trasmission mounts?

Edit. Can I use S2 ABY 6-speed linkage?

Edit. Does this look like right linkage? From B5 2.7tt with DSY transmission.

                          PIC!

Yours should be 100mm assuming that it is stock 2.8 transmission. You will need VW Transporter 108 inner CV-s.

Quite a secret information so far. Hope to find out soon. One car is going to have 01E installed at my friend's garage. Planning to fabricate mounts for me too in one batch.

Yes, but hard to find and expensive.
