A Ringing sound from the gearbox

Hi Guys its been a while since i posted last.
I am getting a ringing sound from the gearbox when the car idles , but it goes away if you increase revs to 1100. A bit worried?
In fourth gear there is a quiet whine and in fifth the gearstick jumps back (but not out of Gear) when you lift off of the accelerator.

If i needed to replace the clutch what else can be done at the same time, cars done 170k and i will be doing the belts/water pump soon so a engine out is a possiblity.

Can anyone advise on parts and time scales to do this?

Audiman will prob know what this is straight away but possibly could be the release bearing on the clutch

and another thing can you replace the bulbs in the dash switches??
