    Clutch trouble

Well i undertook the task of fitting my clutch this weekend, not really a hard job but time consuming never the less.

Anyway, with the clutch fitted and everything secured i took the car out only to find the fooker is still slipping!!!! I checked the flywheel, master cylinder and pushrod and release arm to make sure they were all ok before fitting the new clutch.

The clutch pedal does feel suspiciously light The whole reason i went with the sports clutch is i didn't wanna fit a stock clutch (which has held up well for 4 years iirc) and find out its slips in a month or so. I'm putting this down to either a fault somewhere else, dunno where, sticking master cylinder or just a **** clutch made to the wrong specification. I was told the clutches have been run in 500bhp westfields etc etc!!!

Here's a pic of the old clutch, not massively worn tho

    Thoughts anyone??

    Cheers

What kind of clutch is it Chris? Did the centre plate slide easily on the splines? Is the pedal returning fully?

Is it sintered? It may need to bed in to get full grip.

I fitted a sintered paddle clutch in mine recently, the pedal on that feel suspiciously light too, it doesnt slip though and actually seems to grip more now (more suddenly) than when it was new.

Chris, Could it be the pressure plate not being man enough ?

Can't blame you for being annoyed

Had a quick look on there site and can't find any S2 clutches? Is it one they put together themselves or imported or what?

Have you (or anyone else) used them before?

Yeah it was a special order one, he quoted me for a stock clutch and i asked him for a uprated sports one. I know someone who has a scooby who bought one all ok tho.

I've sent the guy an email to ask him about the spec of the pressure plate etc. See what happens.

Release bearing was changed. Spigot bush/bearing shouldn't really effect it, it not noisey.

                        Cheers

it seemed worth doing and I could get the bleed pipe on it easy before I reattached it...
