  • Audi 200 3B flywheel question?

Stupid question maybe, but is the flywheel from an audi 200 3B 20VT single mass or dual mass?

also, how heavy is it? And is it worth getting an alloy/performance item or is there not much weight saving/strength difference ?

I'm currently looking for one for an AAN into a type 85 coupe quattro conversion.

    Thanks in advance. ☺

Anything with a 3B will have a single mass. The DM came in with the 6 speed due to the noise of the straighter caution gears.
A 7A flywheel might work? Can’t remember if it needs machining, I have one here in the shed somewhere.

      hia..

Can anyone confirm if the 7A fly wheel works with the 016 gear box mated to an AAN in a type 85 CQ?

I'm sure I read a thread on a forum somewhere about a 7A fly wheel braking a gear box after only a few thousand miles? But that might have been on an S2 or something? Can't remember.

016 gearbox has a longer input shaft than the 01A or 01E and the pilot bearing is fitted in the crank rather than the flyhweel.
The 7A flyhweel might work if you remove the pilot bearing so that the input shaft can fit through to meet the crank. You'll obviously need to install the pilot bearing in the crank - perhaps that was the source of the problem you heard. [Someone botched the install]
The 016 spline is smaller than the 01A and 01E so you'll need to check that the clutch you're planning to use is compatible with the 7A flywheel and 016 box.

Maybe I should just stick to finding a flywheel from an Audi 200 3B quattro? As I at least know for sure this does the job?

A member on here thinks he has one, but just in case its not a 200 3B item, is it worth just buying a brand new one? And where would I buy one? (if anyone still makes 200 3B flywheels? )

Not sure if this is viable but might be a good upgrade?

I think that is only for the later S2 type gearbox ?

I take it the RR and 200 3B flywheels are the same? as both cars use a 20vt engine attached to an 016 gearbox? (albeit with a torsen centre diff instead of a manual locker)

I looked on that site again and they do have this though:
                      https://www.dualmassflywheel24.com/5...o-85-si-detail

And they also have the Sachs clutch for the RR Quattro/200 3B too.

                      Which one is better though?
The NRC is rated for 700NM ? and the Sachs is rated for 530NM ?

Has anybody used the NRC clutch before? and has anybody used this site before? The clutches seem cheaper than from the official sites?
