01E 6 Speed shifter

Hello,
I have a 83 Urq build and installing the 01E 6 speed manual transmission. I believe the trans came out of a coupe quattro. Has anyone done this conversion and if so, did you use the stock 01E linkage and shifter? The Urq shifter has a male spline connection to the trans linkage, where the 01E has slotted bolt bracket. I would prefer to use the Urq shifter for ease of install, but something needs to be modified and not sure what to do
Any help would be appreciated.

The gt would have been a fwd so that is not the original car for the box.

I've heard of people using the urq rear linkage section with the urs4/6 6 speed front section. That was in Europe though as American cars only had 5 speed 01e boxes so there may be a difference.

Thank you for the insight. I purchased the trans from someone and they thought GT. Is there a diesel Audi that the 01E might come in?

My mistake.....the seller said A6 diesel is what the trans came out of.

To install an 01E not a simple task. transmission mounts, a special bracket, hybrid linkage (urq, c4 urs4/6, b3 cq/90) and axle cv spacer

I already have Verkline S2 Sub frames, hubs, axles, cv’s all S2.

I think I have it figured out. I will use the 01E linkage and cut a section of the rod and replace with the 01A linkage. The 01E linkage is longer than 01A and the shift rod on the trans is about 1” difference in distance to the housing that bolts to the engine.

I will share what I do in the build.....I spoke with Audi4parts who makes a kit and said, the same as you, that I need a 90's C4/S4 linkage, so I am going to try and source that 1st.

If Audi4parts is from arizona, its safe to say they never seen a urq with 01e.
90's C4/S4 linkage will never clear the tunnel.
These cars are old, swap were done many times, its well documented on here or motorgeek.

It seems like there isnt a lot of support in the USA. I thought my Lancia Delta Integrale was limited here, but the Audi is on a whole other level and being a newbie to the Audi world is overwhelming with all the different numbers and models.

I think my best bet is to just marry 01e and the 01A linkage together. This way I can use the Ur shifter which seems to have more adjustablilty

Varia has been kind enough to send me some details and pictures of what needs to be done on the linkage.
Does anyone have the following parts or have a source that I can buy from.

I am looking for C4 urs 4/6 shifter rod/linkage and a B3 90/cq base.....see pictures.
