    problem with crb rs2 shifting

on one of the last laps I did on the nordschleife this year, the gears were starting to get harder and harder to get in, At first I thought it was the synchro rings, because I was only unable to shift at high revs, but now, I even get that mechanical (not grinding) but "cluck" even if I'm standing still. Could it be the clutch cylinder?
For me it feels as if the clutch isn't engaging or disengaging properly. If I'm driving along at 80kmh in 6th at 2500rpm, and clutch in, the stick really has to manhandled into neutral, and double clutching doesn't really help.

This is probably the synchro "muffs" or whatever they're called. Synch hubs maybe.

These are the ones that slides when the forks pushes towards the gears. If you have damaged these. They get round edges and gets hard to move. Is it all gears or is it just 1-2 , or 3-4 ?

If just 1-2 or 3-4 then it's probalby the muff for each fork and respective gears.

If it's all the gears, check your oil level, if you have too much oil, the gears get harder to access.

Could also be your linkage , try and move it by hand underneath the car if you can access it without taking the whole car apart. If it goes easy underneath, then check your gear linkage in the car.

    Hope this helps

the oil checked out ok, and they changed it just to be sure, but it didn't help.

Only problem is that my audi dealers where I live aren't that good, and they told me they had a transmission specialist try the car but he didn't figure out what it was.......they were very eager to open up the whole thing though, which equals $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I'm not paying £1k to dismount the gearbox if it's not an internal problem.

I asked if they checked the clutch cylinders, gearbox mounts, oils, linkage etc, but they said they were all fine... later that day i found out when I had my car on a lift to replace the rear brakeshoes, that one of the gearbox mounts were broken, and sort of moved around and tightened up so it would hold.

could it be a broken mount that's causing it?

I doubt it could be a mount. I had a broken mount too but it didnt make a big difference when i changed it. A little, but not that much...
