      o and normaly a seal leaks because of another problem..

      for example a grove in a shaft.
      something getting wrapped around the shaft and wearing the seal away,, or dirt.
      the spring in the seal getting streched ( you can pull the spring apart and cut them shorter and join them back together if you look hard you can see were the spring is wedged into the other end of the spring cut the larger side so you can wedge it back in)
      a bearing collapsing causing up and down movement .
      the seal not been fitted propa in the first place but if its been there for a few years it wont be this..
      so a new seal will stop it leaking probably for quite a while but remember to ask youself why has the seal started to leak in the first place, although in saying that these cars are getting old enough that the seals do just go hard and brittle
