Clutch is getting heavier and heavier so I think it's time for a new one. What do I want for approx 350bhp capability? I'm thinking standard replacement as I want to minimise costs.
I'm thinking that I need to replace the slave cylinder whilst the box is off, what else do i need to consider?
Gear linkage?
'box mounts?

Right, clutch from GSF is £152+VAT and clutch from VAG Parts is £154+VAT.
What do people think to fitting a single mass flywheel and 3B clutch? I'm under the impression it sharpens up rthrottle response a bit as it's lighter? Anyone done this? I'll get searching!

IIWU - go for the SM flywheel from the 3B - this has a couple of advantages.
Firstly its lighter so the engine can accelerate faster - makes it more free revving
Secondly on the 3B flywheel you get a few options of motorsport spec clutches from Sachs and others if you like.
Only disadvantage with SM flywheel is that the drive is less refined - gearchanges perhaps not as smooth and higher driveline noise... The DM flywheel (heavy big brute it is) absorbs that nicely but makes engine a tad less revvy.
Watch out for spigot bearing and flywheel bolts - they are different between ABY and 3B. Go for it !
Will watch this with an eye to doing the same soon, keep us posted!

vw T5 Kombi. In the process of being "ruined"
Having read a few posts it seems like I need this... and as a bonus, I can get an uprated clutch too!
So I need a single mass flyweel and a clutch for 3B. I remove the box spacer off the car and move the engine on the engine mounts to take up the 10mm or so gap that results.
I like the idea of more revvy engine and can't do a clean gear change to save my life so no need to care about that
GSF want £179 for the clutch for a 3B, that's more expensive than the ABY!

ideally you need either the stage3 or 3+. You'll fry anything else. Obviously the price goes up with the better spec.
The car is only 300 bhp at present and I am on a limited budget so not really up for spending £300+ on a clutch right now. What sort of prices are the Spec 3 and 3+ clutches?
A few questions:-
Are the RS2 and S2 clutches the same?
Anyone got a vendor for a Sachs sports clutch 3B / ABY?
Anyone got a single mass flywheel for sale?

ECP do Luk clutches.
GSF have quoted me £179+ for a Sachs clutch, £365+ for a DM flywheel (not that I asked but it's interesting nonetheless).
Proven products want £269 and £289 for a 3B and ABY Sachs clutch, £455 for a Sachs sports clutch for the ABY.
Quattronics have offered a Spec 3 for around £400.
GSF can only supply a Luk clutch for the 3B flywheel, again at £179+
I reckon you also need to budget in for a new slave cylinder, and rear main oil seal while you are in there....

They probably quoted you a DM flywheel as it seems to be common to replace these at the same time as the clutch on 1.8Ts for example. Mostly for the girly TT and A3 drivers that ride the clutch everywhere and overheat them probably.
Cheers guys, got the rear seal and bearing on the list Budget is going to dictate this one, I'm currently going to get a VAG Parts genuine one as getting the flywheel an slave is going to cost a bit too.
