    strange goings on this evening

hi all! driving the S2 home tonight, just cruising down the motorway at about 75mph and all of a sudden it starts to hesitate and then almost instantly be fine again.

it feels like the clutch is slipping...

so i try it down my local road, hard accelerate through the gears, absolutly bang on. same yesturday where i was "testing her out" on the motorway, not a problem.

the clutch is heavy but the bite is in a good place and has a good feel (no juddering etc)

    anyone had similar problems?

if it is the maf,it may turn up.not always. If it is moisture in the coils and that surrunding area it will not come up on the diagnostic.

            Hi,

If you have steam cleaned under the bonnet then I can almost Guarantee that is moisture making its way out. I rinsed my engine over with an open hose and it was fine for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden a misfire. It will go away as soon as it has arrived.

HOWEVER. Just to be on the safe side I would whip the coil pack cover off and check your spark plugs are tight. THEY CAN COME LOOSE. I ignored the warning and nearly lost one. (If you are lucky a loose plug will start off as a misfire and then turn to disaster....) Dry it all out while you are there.

Alse check all your electrical connectors on the ignition and injection side of things to make sure they are dry.

You can wash the engines on these cars, but they can be a little tempermental for a while afterwards.

            HTH

            Cheers,

            Steve.

cheers for the help there! i didnt really want to steam clean it but i had no choice as the powersteering pump decided to blow a seal and cover the entire front end of the car in PAS fluid! it looks the business now though

i will check the tightness of the plugs etc as soon as i can!

Just out of interest did you "dress" the engine afterwards?

If not, try AutoGlym Tyre Dressing. Warm engine up (not hot) spray the AG tyre dressing EVERYWHERE, shut bonnet and allow to dry.

Open bonnet 10 minutes later and admire!

                Cheers,

                Steve.

                P.S. Any pics?

                          Cheeky!

It breaks up the monotony of a 100% reliable car!

                            Hi Lewis,

I have a fault code reader if you ever need to borrow it. Do a search, there is a group buy that was done for them. I think they were only £12 or something. A handy little gadget.

                            Found it: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24390

Glad to hear the car is all sorted now.

                            Cheers,

                            Steve.

Don't forget to "dress" it afterwards.
