    Gearbox oil...

Why does it smell so vile?? I've just changed the oil in my gearbox. Will be doing the diff tomorrow. God i hope the smell washes out

On a more serious note, I managed to fill by about 3 litres. However, i only realised afterwards there are 2 drain pugs??!? Do i need to drain the other one too or will i get away with it.

When i drained it i lowered the front and jacked up the rear slightly just to make sure it was all out.

The second plug is for the Torsen. I drained both. I suppose as long as it's up to the fill plug with the car level you're OK but you might not have got all of the old stuff out.

I used redline MT90, used it in my other quattro is good stuff.

I think you're right Andy i probably didn't get the old stuff out, but i did manage to squeeze 3 litres in there so can't have been too much left over.

I've gone completely OCD on my hands and i can still smell it though....

Did the rear diff today. Put 1 litre in but it didn't fill up?? How much is it supposed to hold?

I actually thought they were equally as bad but my f*cking god when I cracked the plug on the gearbox yesterday, splashed on my face, I had big problems.

If it's on face, then the smell will wash, but day or too. BTDT.
