Most street cars are equipped with open differentials allowing the driven wheels to turn at different speeds through a turn.
Since the outside wheel has to travel farther, it must turn faster than the inside wheel.

I think you are mixing rear diff and center diff!
All 4 wheell drive car have 3 diff: Front, Center, Rear.
So S2, RS2, S4, RS4 have:
-Front Open diff
-Center Torsen (located at end of gearbox)
-Rear open diff
S3, 4motion VW:
-Front Open diff
-Center haldex (located at the front of the rear diff)
-Rear open diff
Center diff bias torque from front to back
