iirc 034 sells them as well, and apparently much better quality than the beemer part, wich I was told is on the soft side

I've thoroughly searched the old threads, but its much easier for me to get a bearing from Euro car parts than it is form BMW so I need the model of car.

More than a little harsh Rob!

The part numbers are in the threads, both BMW part number and ECP/GSF, the one VAG Parts used to sell went out of production (not to mention VAG Parts leaving us too) and I asked a mate to get me one from BMW using the part numbers quoted in the other threads and I didn't get too far as it's an old part number.

I think Pete @ Quattro Corner sells the correct Audi item and IIRC Rob go his from http://propshafts.co.uk. The Audi item is beefier than the BMW item and is matched to the rest of the drivetrain bushes, hence GT500's annoyance at people getting the incorrect BMW one. It's about £100 vs £25 and as it's a once every 10 years item it's worth the extra money.

there are many using the bmw part without issue...the old arguement reigns on about this part but i have it on mine without any issues I think as I mentioned to Rob, if the prop parts company with the car and I'm impaled on it as a result, then I'd post a picture Some people had had this on more thousands of miles so i fail to see why its an inferior part. It may not be oem but is proven to have worked on numerous cars so as such its fine. When i've bought 3 more and equalled the exponse of the 'Audi' one (sure its also a febi bearing assembly) then i'll be back to agree it was not money well spent, until then, all fine here

The Audi prop floats also due to the CV joints at each end whereas BMW is solidly fixed.

correct...there is a process of measuring and adjusting to that the longditudinal lash can be optimised IIRC

I am only trying to advise, if you want a dangling prop and it will hang down with the bm bearing, then fine.
I like my shaft running straight and true! as my Audi designed it!
