V8 torsen rear diff in s2 housing

Whats the V8 torsen rear diff fitted to the s2 housing ready to bolt onto an s2 worth?

and will it cope with around 450bhp/ftlbs?

and finally, is it worth fitting, the car is only used on the road really, no harsh drag racing or anything

It is worth fitting, but dont go doing 6500rpm standing start launches because they go pop as audiman found out at GTI Inters a couple of years back

is it worth it at that price?

theres also a rs2 turbo/manifold on there, from the same car i guess, it says it pushes 410bhp because of the cut back blades? whats the story with the turbo? any ideas on the torque?

See thread by Sonic, the turbo is a standard RS2 turbo with a 360 bearing

Diff, depends if you can do it your self. V8 diff cost a third of that price.

Well a V8 rear diff can be sourced circa 100-200 EUros (or Sterling)... But there is some skill required getting it into right sized diff casing for S2. Special torque procedures and stuff... I have the V8 LSD internals here, but still chasing a spare S2 (or CQ20V) rear diff casing. I guesstimate a couple of hours work for a good gearbox man (equipped with right tools and torque settings) to do the work....

For that reason a price of 450GBP might not seem so outrageous - unless you can do the work yourself or know someone who can do it much cheaper.

I have done a deal with someone else for one, but just not got over to the mainland to collect it... If you are heading for Dublin sometime soon then I could indeed drive down for collection. I need to chat with the other guy 1st though - its been one of those long drawn out things. PLEASE let me have 1st refusal on it - cheers !!!!!!

does anybody have the correct torque settings for the diff? sorry for the hijack, you should replace the two seals on each side from what i've heard also need new oil....it all adds up, and as mentioned its a lot of hastle, i think £450 is a fair price persoanally, yes it is cheaper to do it yourself but i would rather not have to.....

                            Rear diff £100 - £150
                            Torsen £200 (cheap)
                            Parts / Labour £100

Looks like £450 is a good price and don't forget you can sell your old diff on.
