From CGR to CRB gearbox upgrade

This problem is likely your syncromesh for 2nd gear. You could risk a second hand box and hope it does not have the fault, or you could buy a new syncro, IIRC it will be a syncro with gear, and replace it.

The problem is unlikely to be because you don't have the wide 1st IMO

Hello, I had ask about this because on my S2 I have a problem if a make a quick passage from 1 to 2 gear with high rpm of the engine, I know that this is a common problem on S2 and RS2 because I know some other people with this problem and I thin that in the past Audi warranty resolve this problem, so I think that is best if a change my CGR gearbox with a CRB.

I was promptly told on here the late boxes had the flexible shaft as well.

AFAIK apart from the wider first gear (which the late CRB boxes have) the only difference is the mythical flexible shaft in the CGR?

Agree with Paul. First try to break the small first gear on the CGR. I did not yet manage to do that

The casing is different to accommodate the wider first gear on the CRB(if that's the right box) from what I've seen.

I ask this because I want know if change only the first gear or also che gearbox box change or what, because is possible to open a gearbox and upgrade it sometimes, but I don't know about the CGR to CRB, is only a question. Thanks!
