Hmmm I could do with a holiday to the states, wonder what they'd say at customs with a few of these as luggage.

      Sachs performance (520+Nm ( 383b/ft)) is 678 euro=£595 + postage

Looks like the southbend stuff could be a great option as long as taxes don't shaft you.

I'm picking up a little A4 1.8T fitted with a DXD South Bend Stage 4 Clutch and an
11lb DXD South Bend Lightened solid flywheel.
I'll let you know what I think of it late tomorrow evening when I get in.
I've run Exeddy, HKS, Alcon, AP, paddle, twins and tripples so I can probably give their product a reasonable review.

        Paul.

You will probably be getting an order this time next year (maybe sooner but hopefully not to soon), however I have to get the car on the road and burn out the stock clutch first

I assume for anyone planning to change their turbo (particularly to an RS2 K42/7200 which can be mapped to a rod bending 500ft/lbs) then the stage 3 is the only option, but what is the difference in feel?

Other than price, what is the difference between these 3 stages from a drivers point of view?

In other words, has anyone got any experience of the difference in feel between these 3 stages?

              Cheers n

Sorry to cause any confusion, I only posted up to the level of clutch I was interested in/comparable to the sachs item.

                  Copied from the site;

                  Stage1 "Rally" Series:

This kit utilizes a stock sachs clutch disc mated to a high clamp pressure plate yielding a 20% increase in clamping force and approximately 25-30% increase in torque capacity. Good for 375 ft/lbs torque at the crank. Stock pedal feel.

                  Stage 2 "TZ" Series:

This kit uses the same pressure plate as stage 1, but uses a full face kevlar clutch disc for a 30-35% increase in torque capacity over stock Due to the heat dissapation properties of kevlar this clutch is not recommended for drag racing applications. Good for 400 ft/lbs torque at the crank. Stock pedal feel.

                  Stage 3 "OFE" Series:

This kit uses the same pressure plate as stage 1 and 2 but uses a hybrid clutch disc with a full face Feramic compound on the flywheel side and a high metal content Organic compound on the pressure plate side providing a 55-60% increase in torque capacity. Good for 500ft/lbs torque at the flywheel. Stock pedal feel (yes, really!).

                  Stage 4 "OFE" Series:

This kit utilizes the same clutch disc as stage 3 but with an SFI approved, race engineered higher clamping force pressure plate providing a 45% increase in clamping force and a total torque capacity increase of 150% over stock! Good for 750 ft/lbs torque, and only about a 25% increase in pedal effort. Dont be fooled by the capacity of this clutch, engagement is still silky smooth and is absolutely streetable.

                  Stage 5 "SS FE" Series:

This kit uses the same SFI approved race engineered pressure plate as stage 4 but with a dual face feramic clutch disc (pressure plate and flywheel side). Torque capacity is an astounding 200% over stock on this clutch, good for over 900ft/lbs of torque, yet still only a 25% increase in pedal effort.

                  Stage 5 "SS DXD-B" Series:

This kit uses the same SFI approved race engineered pressure plate as stage 4 and 5 but uses a 6 puck Ceramic lined clutch disc. Power handling capacity is the same as the standard stage 5 clutch, however the puck design is better suited to dedicated drag cars. Some chatter should be expected with this clutch kit during engagement. 200% increase in torque capacity over stock, good for 900ft/lbs torque, 25% increase in pedal effort.

Don't you mean 500Nm there Si

I asked Mark about what to go for on the RS2 and he said stage 3 would be fine but that, for the extra money, the stage 4 would be fine for all the turbos I mentioned.

I'd need to take advice on torque levels and thus which stage is required for a 3071/3076/CT350/CT355 as they are ultimately what I would be working towards

It would be nice if a stage 3 was suitable for all my desires as it leaves a nice wedge of cash to put towards some rods

Nope, I def mean 500 of your footie pounds ma boy or around 750Nm as I am lead to believe that although the stock rods bend at the 600Nm range, the RS2 turbo can, if mapped aggresively, be made to give closer to 700Nm plus

Yep 700nm or torque bending mentalness, Don't tell A80avant that he won't believe it.

Any downsides to mapping the RS2 set-up to that of torque mentalness? (apologies for the hijack)

Mapped aggressively to give 700+Nm??? this made me laugh!!!on which engine? a 2.6 stroker with E100 and nos??

Why do we bother with all these garretts and holsets? Jamo, get yourself an RS2 turbo again, you have been fooled also!

...maybe get 700Nm on one run only, and then pull the turbo off and fit a new one, cause there wouldnt be any turbo left...

easily enough, run the 3071R @ 3bar, and see how many torques you can make.... get real people... or get a holset where you can push it to 3.5bar

                            All talk and no proof...

Fair enough, that's a bit mad but fun for sure, wonder what a 7000 can do if tuned to drive like a diesel that must take some serious boost!

What torque levels will a more normal RS2 setup run, I was working on 380ish ftlbs for a 'high boost' generic chipset. What about running a fat WG spring and 3bar?

                              Is the 500ftlbs limit OK for 3071 / 3076 / CT350 / CT355? Can't rember numbers on Ross' car.

Don't want an argument, just some info to make sure I get a clutch that suits my future plans as I don't to be swapping it soon after like I'll be doing with the OE one

I recomend a Southbend one because they have a sachs presure plate and clutch disc with feramic. It s gonna hold the NM which you gonna have in the future!
