I prefer the 3b gearing to the 016 box i have on the 100, i do a lot of motorway miles though, i can really notice a difference between the revs at cruising speeds, well in my 3b 110mph in fifth is 4krpm and the 016 it is at 5krpm... all on my private test track in my garden of course :-)
the 016 is mental in first three gears though. would like to try 340hp through one.
Paul if you would have exact preferences for the gearbox wheels/ratios or blue prints then it would be possible to manufacture them. Probably in Russia. They can make wonder things on their old military facilities for pennies.
Sweeper,
Would you honestly trust a quality part like this to be made in Russia
Don't get me wrong but the quality of russian facilities are much higher that EU.
Most Military facilities are capable of doing what US or Europiens will do in 10 year future.
For example: You want birrilium parts ? No problem , just give them drawing. You need your spec rods ? No problem , just give them drawing.
Once I wanted Titanium undercar protection. No problem , give them drawing + 30$ per best quality titanium 1mX1m and they will drill and cut it to your spec.
Too bad you don't follow lada tuning developments in that country , in 2 years they already built custom made turbo conversions on simple 1.5 engines with 6 speed seqintal gearboxes and racing brakes . It's all on thouse 2 pennies for hour facilities.
Vadim.

Sweeper,
With the greatest of respect, when was the last time that you saw the quality of Aerospace companies in the EU, especially the UK. Not forgetting the facilities of most of the Formula 1 teams in England
Well , I never saw anything outstanding from aerospace UK or EU companies also.
Try to say I'm wrong but military aircrafts are dominated by Russians. Land machines such as tanks also. It's if we talk about war machines.
As for aerospace outerspace , than russia still is country number #1 in space technology. They have built space station 10 years ago and still noone can achieve the same success.
And the best out there is that it's real CHEAP to manufacture something on russian factories apart from EU.
A friend of mine built half of his engine that way , that's why I'm saying this.
Tell me anything bad about quality of russian facilities . This country have every resourse available on this planet , that's why it possible to manufacture anything they like.
Vadim.
No offense

And just for the record. Let's compare perfect body work in both of our countries ?
We have 80$/part + paint , or 600-700$ per car + paint for body work. It will look like from factory. You ?
Profesionals are the same , cost for work is different. Most of guys at military facilities have 2-3 higer digrees + some scince status , they just don't have money , that's why then can make you anything in perfect shape for pennies.
Just visit Russia , you will see.

yep. this is looking heavy ...i guess one way to look at it is that most western european companies, especially manufacturing ones (like audi) are setting up factorys in the old eastern block becuase of, cheap labour (but highly skilled), cheap materials (but high quality) and less issues with building a factory or employment laws etc etc. I agree with both sides of the arguement in different ways....
F1 development is a good arguement, but look ata mig and you get the other
