Your right Robin, the 3B flywheel has the bearing in it. Looked at my shiny lightened flywheel today

make sure you have the correct size needle bearing in the crank BTDT on the 100, the 016 needs a larger one cant remember size to be able to work with rr/3b engine,
spent 1 day scratching heads wondering why they wouldnt mate up!

          Des,
          In an idle moment...
I think the pilot bearing you want is the 046 105 313D. It is listed as having dimensions of 18X24X16. I think this relates to OD of input X ID of crank X depth of bearing. So in laymans terms, 18mm is the hole in the bearing, 24mm is the hole in the crank and it is 16mm long.. This is listed for the WR & MB and indeed the 1b version of the 200 which used the same flywheel as the RR.
The other one is the 034 105 313A. This is listed as having dimensions of 15X24X26. Strangley this is listed for the WR, MB & RR. I thought the difference in the id of the bearing was down to the fact that they necked down the imput shaft on the later Torsen 016.
Moral of the story. Check and measure carefully!!

Direct from OFRMs - Always renew these bolts and use locking compound.

Torque on 3B flywheel bolts is 30Nm plus 90 degrees
Torque on AAN/ABY flywheel bolts was the same at 30Nm plus 90 degrees initially, but a technical bulletin dated 07.91 changed this 40Nm plus 180 degrees.

              So now we know !

Special note on fitting needle bearing to 3B/RR flywheel is that the lettered side must be visible.

@Des - please let us know the exact details of what flywheel and bearing combination works with the ABY engine and 016 tranny. Oh and clutch of course.... No point in reinventing the wheel.

Yep you where correct. The input shaft of the 016 box from a 84 WR is 18mm where the bush fits. The crank of the ABY has a 24mm hole drilled for the bearing to be pressed into. I will be useing a RR flywheel

The ABY has the bearing in the flywheel. Looks like a needle roller on the aby. Anyone need a ABY flywheel? Its on da bay!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=2486659600
