    dual mass refurb

while asking this question, i already found a couple of shops selling new DMFs units (LUK) for about 400GBP, which is not bad, so i think i got my answer!

    thanks for looking!

Sounds about right, my car had a new clutch/flywheel fitted before i bought it, receipt was for ~£500.

I know the Porsche 964's have big problems with dual mass flywheels failing, never heard of anybody rebuilding them, there always replaced with a new one or solid flywheel.

you can resurface them. Southbend clutch has a way of doing it. to be honest I think all you need is a *really* big lathe. if you chuck the flywheel by the outside it is possible to turn the face without damaging the mechanism.

personally im thinking of going back to them once a new disc/pressure plate is required, mainly to get back the smoothness. The amount of torque im producing now is not far different than the 3071, so i think it can handle it

Personally I'd just use a rigid flywheel.

If there was enough interest TTV would do a batch if no one else makes them.

Dual Mass is comfort personified, wish I could go back to one instead of the single mass flywheel

For a daily hack I guess thats a fair point, I've driven plenty of 4x4 motors though that don't run one and I had no problem with them.

I'm used to it now, my passengers aren't when I put my foot down though

i can tell the difference when im in one new audi high perfoamance car, where when off the boost or driving casually, you dont get the feeling there is an engine moving or working at the time. Otherwise, sure im used to it as well, but since im not going to go any higher in hp, i thought what's the point in the single mass? a few extra hp ? i prefer to do some light head work instead to get the same hp output and have some more engine smoothness instead. These audi dual mass flywheels are well built anyway and proven to hold loads of torque.

the only difference i am noticing is when engaging first but maybe thats has to do with the six pad sinter disc.

Single mass and six speed = a lot of noise in the car.. I'm liking my avant for daily driving

I have asked in the past but is there a high grip clutch for the dual mass?, all the ones I've seen my engine setup would slip them in no time

probly depends on how hard you drive it jamo.

the duel mass is bigger so has better chance of holding. ive had no issues so far with slippage on the stock clutch. i dont launch it though. i can feel something not as solid as it used to be though.
having said that i have heard so better reports on the stock items than some uprated ones.
im going solid 7a. gonna keep most of the weight though. had it sat there in a box for 2 yrs now.
