Clutch Keeps Going to Floor Until I grab it by hand! (What Could This Be?))

The other day, a couple of times when I depressed my clutch, the thing stayed half down until I flicked it back up with the toe of my shoe.

Today it did it a couple of times, but tonight it has been going right to the floor, and staying there, so I have to squeeze my foot underneath and use some strengh to pull it back up. Its as if the pedal is stiff or frozen?

I had the (!) symbol come on one time too?

Just before the gear change was really stiff to get it into neutral too?

Is it the Clutch, The Master Cylinder, that linkage a few people mentioned, or is it just a dead mouse under the dash thats fallen on the Clutch pedal linkages in its fall from chewing my Speedo Binnacle's wiring loom?

    Arghhhhh!

Is this the thing that snaps?

Is this at the end of the Clutch Master Cylinder?

Is this the thing that can be welded, or can I buy a new linkage from somewhere?

Mine did the same thing this summer. I push to the floor and it would stay there. It didn't happen all the time though which really threw me for a loop. I replaced the clutch master which ended up fixing my problem. Another odd observation was that the master was not leaking. I think it just got sticky and didn't want to release once depressed.

I've had this 3 times on my Golf TDi; each time it's required a replacement master cylinder.

mine does this every once in awhile as well. but the car normally sits for long periods of time.

i pump it a whole bunch of times, and it seems to correct itself. then out of the blue, its on the floor.

it did it a couple times, then i jumped in to move the car and it was fine.
