If you switch your clutch and flywheel is all S2.

You need to bring over the linkage as well. This means adapting the tunnel

Early 6 speeds are weak. The later ones much better

If you want proper robust then an RS4 2.7T box can be made to fit or even an All Road if you can find one
Early 6 speed is still stronger than the ur box

The article is great and was very helpful to me but there are few things that can be done easier and quicker.

The shifter gate, no need to weld anything, combination of Ur-q and UrS4 parts can be bolted together with the same result, pics on my project page.

The shifter, same here, Ur-q shifter fits with ur-q ball on the UrS4 selector BTDT, no hitting of the floor or transmission, pics on my project page.

S2 6-speed mounts can be used with spacer on the pass side, no need for custom mounts.
Also, there is enough movement in the driveline and CVs that a 15 mm spacer for the back of the transmission is not needed.

I have a copy of the article on my site:

          Hope this helps

martin, just a few things i need get sorted
                  i am using an usdm urS4 5 speed o1e

i now have the 4kq outer cv's on b3 front axles
( are they coupe and 90 axles same length? and also side to side?)

the front drive cups are 4kq front 016 units in the o1e

it seems as though they stick out too far from the box, the drivers side 4kq/90 axle works but seems jsut a bit snug and the passenger wont quite fit even with the balljoint fully extended

heres a pic of the axle cups, lmk if you think they are stickign out too far

                  are the urS4 o1e's and b5 6speed o1e's the same width?

ill get a pic here soon

You need to shave 3mm from the inside of the flange (spline end).

                      That's all.

on the inside spline end there is a tapered cone just liek on the inside of the cup for the fixing bolt.

can the spline be cut shorter and flat? or do i need to lathe that cone farther into the spline as well?
