  • S2 gearbox in FWD?????

    good evning,

    right i am comming to the mapping stage of my car but i have a 2WD rolling road,

    Does any one know if i can remove the prop and run it in FWD just to mapp it????

    Prob sounds a bit of a mad request!

    you can if you pull the torsen out and weld it solid.

    it doesnt take much, just three little welds. and its pretty much done for if you do this, BTW. you cant unweld it LOL.

      What is the pro's and cons of doing this tho as the car is a daily driver!

      And have you got any info on how to do it???

        Rather than knacker an S2 gearbox (well the diff at least) why not fit a FWD box to map it if a 2WD rolling road is your only option? Hassle I know, but it sounds like your in the trade and know what your doing and FWD boxes can be had for peanuts. You could swap boxes and back in a day easy on ramp with air tools etc. I've got an old Audi 100 turbo FWD gearbox that would be ideal for such venture.

              Good idea Kit, thats what I'd do
              Or you could always buy a knackered quattro box, take the torsen out, weld it and hey fit that into your box temporarily then switch back after.
