  • Gearbox identification

I've got 2 6 speed boxes, both of which are from late Avants.

I believe the CGR is the better of the 2 but how can you identify them and if its just a number where do I need to look ?

    Thanks in advance !

Maybe one of them has the wide and flexible gear/shaft..?

I'm expecting the one from the L Reg Avant is going to be the wide 1st gear one, the other may also be the same but it would help to know exactly how to tell them apart.

The code is stamped on the left hand side of the box. It can be found at the 6 o'clock position of the output flange.
It will read something like XXX YYY YY where XXX is the transmission code and YYY YY is the consecutive serial number.
