    Yeah, i hear ya!

it's an amazing car really, comfy, effortless to drive, fairly brisk for a 2-ton car... i've done most jobs to it myself but kept away from the big jobs like auto gearboxes - they frighten me a little tbh!

Well, will have a think about it and see what we are going to do, whatever happens it isn't worth a great deal.

Should have replaced the ATF fluid when the owner got it

I think a 2.7TT with anything less than 400 horsepower is completely useless as well, as you are better off buying a V8 and saving on the crazy maintenance costs and the labor costs (I have a RS4, so I know).

But yeah, you can always break it. If the engine is still good, it might fetch some money.
I have to be honest i think RS4's have been hit by this to. Not different enough to keep as a one off and only use at weekends and to expensive to use every day..

As much as i love them (having had two) i sold the last one because i would be hellishly un happy spending 3k+ on new turbo's when cars can now be had for as little as 10k less in some-cases.

I think the RS2 which is relatively cheap to maintain by an RS4 standard will hold its value better.

Having said all that a B5 RS4 is a must have car for any petrol head just not a keeper in my opinion....

      Darren.

I daily drive mine... the entire point of the car is to drive it every day.
That's why you have a car with 4 doors and a boot.

RS4 is totally pointless as a weekend car, much rather would have a Porsche for that (but I guess you found that out already )

And the turbos on the RS4 are just an excuse to get more power...

The cars are cheaper in the UK. In europe you generally can't find a RS4 with under 125k miles on the clock for less than 15 000 EUR.

But basically my point was that maintaining a K03 2.7TT is not really any cheaper than a K04. In fact the turbos are a lot less durable on it.
So that's why I don't see the point in buying a car for 1.5-3k when it needs 3-4k in repairs, because when it gets to selling it, you'll still get 3k for it.

I had one from new and did 30k a year in it, it had as much warranty work carried out as it cost to buy.. not that that should put anyone off i think i was un lucky with that car.

However, I loved it so much i had to get another at some point.... as i say great cars, kinda still wished i had one... I had heard that the prices in the rest of Europe are stronger. I sold my last one last June 69k (FSH MRC stage 1, sat, leather etc) for £12,500.

I had a slipping clutch in my S6 V8 gearbox so I changed the fluid and it didn't make a bit if difference

I have however got a fluid transfer device that you can borrow that I made should you want to give it a go, The fluid is expensive too!
