Today I had more time to inspect the failure. Drain the oil from the box and there came no metal with the oils. Everything seemd normal inside when inspecting the diff from the drain hole.
Then I realised that the propshaft was turning along with the front wheels when a gear was plugged in. So the failure is in the rear diff. When turning the rear wheel nothing happens on the other side or with the propshaft... so I drained the oils from the rear diff and this came with the oils...

Thanks for the tip. Looked a little bit closer to the build of the 01E and it seems that you can get the front diff out from the left side, right you told. I have been offered a new front diff for 40e so it could be a budget maintance if I get lucky. Hope the pinion from the box is faultless...Leave a comment:

Yup. I almost have to go out the garage and jack up one wheel to prove/disprove my point. For now, I will say, I was wrong.

Tut mir leid.

Never mind, lack of sleep does funny things...
Wheels have to rotate against each other - we are looking from standpoint of turning the wheel, not the engine and with one wheel off the ground.
Definitely something is broken there, as it can spin so much.Leave a comment:

If you understand you right, car in gear, three wheels locked and one free, that is not normal at all. I would expect the wheel to rotate side to side about 1/8th of a turn before it takes up all the slack in the drive train against the engine. Its broken thats for sure.Leave a comment:

That's a post that deserve a S2Forum Grammy Award....Try this too!
It is a torque mayonnaiser device. Mayonnaising (new word
) the lowest available input grip to the bias (predefined by preload/friction/ramp angle) to the other end with higher grip angle. That's why with one wheel airborne it is useless since there is nothing to mayonnaise.

@UrS4boy.....
You're often very fussy or too fussy or....(Sorry I can't find the proper adjective in english) with the others posters here, i.e. lately the Irish fella on the "manual tacho" thread where you nailed him on an nonesistent detail....
On this one I'm sorry but IMHO you should had dropped the issue earlier instead of keep digging...... It's not basic.... It's ABC (not sure about C thoug)

Mi two cents

Somehow I totally missed this post between my 09:52 (my time) post and my 10:10 (my time) post.Barely got it inside the carage. Heard a really loud KLANG sound when I turned in a crossroad after some launch control tests. It was feeling like something hitted the bottom of the car. And then I tried a last launch and BANG, I thought the gearbox was loose or something. It sounded really bad... Treid reverse and GROUCH! But I got it inside the garage driving it.
Umm....I *think* you broke it.

But the question is, do you get bacon *AND* tomato with the mayonnaise?Try this too! It is a torque mayonnaiser device. Mayonnaising (new word

Thomas, Take the front diff out, you can get to it on open pit, just remove driveshaft and there is enough room to do that. You should be able to see what is wrong with the diff.
Based on the video i doubt the engine moves by hand so i'd leave that out. This leaves us with the diff itself and input shaft from torsen. So taking the diff out is the easiest option, you can see if the problem is in the diff or is it more likely in the input shaft/torsen. I'm guessing the diff itself let go.
BTW in gear and 3 wheels on the ground you should not be able to turn the wheel. as the gerabox internals are locked by the engine and the other front wheel is on the ground. Rotating one wheel forces the other wheel to turn the opposite way or the gearbox internals start to move that are blocked by the engine = that wheel can not move if nothing is broken.Leave a comment:

Try this too!Try this:
It is a torque transfer device. Transferring the lowest available input grip to the bias (predefined by preload/friction/ramp angle) to the other end with higher grip angle. That's why with one wheel airborne it is useless since there is nothing to transfer.
It can never make more torque than what comes out of the engine. THAT is my point.
