The noise is coming where it's hitting the bottom of the car .. It's clacking against the under carrier/bracket ..

Drop that bracket off and inspect it, maybe you could get a poly bush made up to replace the original.

I would like to add that there is no issues when changing down the gears, I can change down quite briskly and have no problems at all.

Right time to revive this topic "sigh" .. I inspected all that I thought could be an issue, done the aforementioned tests on axle stands rotating wheels etc. Couldn't find anything ... I recently bit the bullet and knowing that Audi wanted £146 +VAT .. Decided to go for the APIKOL poly bushed mount from 034 Motorsport.

I fitted it thismorning and it has made no difference, and if anything made the jump/clack louder :/

If it is say "prop to diff" joint .. Where can I get one from ? The ONLY thing I did notice underneath today was the the drivers side inner CV on the rear diff had more oil residue on it that the passenger side .. I really don't know which way to go anymore :/

Any more pointers or tests I can do ?

Right ... Upon further inspection, with the new diff mount installed, the diff is not jumping anymore, it's solid and is no longer being allowed to move. However as mentioned above i am still getting the clunk/slap/clonk. When underneath and coming of the biting point to induce the sound/fault it appeared that the the most part of noise was coming from the nose cone of the diff, near the diff-prop
Joint. I decided to swap the nose cones as I have a spare diff and it was only a 15 minute job, however, no difference.

I intend to swap the whole diff at the weekend, and see whether it is the diff itself.

What grade oil do I need for the rear diff ?

              Thanks
