    Tom:

Look at the other post, is very long but we are getting closer.

Also, found this site in California. Try to e-mail them but no luck.
Maybe one of the US guys can help us. They have build an S2 rally car and it seems it says Quaife front and back on an S2 gearbox.

Got and answer from TMS (see previous post)

      Hi Rafael:

We used QUIAFE LSD front and rear, and stock on the center. On the old 5 speed we did not need to modify anything.

On the 6 speed we had to make slight modification to the front and rear to make it fit properly. It worked excellent, like a whole different car.

You can contact us at 661-299-5224 or send us your tel. number and we can explain more.

EDITED: Can any of the US guys call to get info on this?
Telephone costs, hour difference and different language makes it hard for me to get a good answer here of what is need it to modify.

I suspect we need Quaife P/N used by them and what modifications.
Still I don't understand what is different on the rear between the 5 speed and 6 speed?

If somebody is going to call please let me know. Otherwise I will try my best to find out more about this.

PS I also post the same on the Quaife transmision thread as it has to do with both. Can any moderator decide where to continue this thread?

        Hi,
I talked to George a little while back, after Quaife came out with a diff for the NuS4 01E trans. I wanted to know if they would bit the older 6 speed boxes. But alas with me it was more we can do Quaife in your car, but was not real forthcoming with a lot of info. He also told me you can't put a V8 torsen in a coupe diff. Others here have said this has been done.

When I get two minutes in a row, I will get around to taking my diffs apart.

"This is just a quickie FYI post for now. No pictures as my hands were all grimy and covered in sweet tranny fluid all day.

The torsen rear diff found in the V8 machines is quite an easy swap into the small car boxes, or even the big cars as well. If you have a 4.11 final on a big car you can actually just plop the whole unit in and away you go.

For those that have to swap bits here's a quick run-down of what you need to do. With all the parts gathered, and provided you don't need to re-shim the bearing races (I didn't) this can be done in a couple hours, with most of the time spent dropping/un-dropping the rear subframe.

Once the subframe is down and the two diffs are on the bench:
          On your stock diff casing:
          - remove all the output flanges for the inners CV joints
          - Open up your stock locker unit
          - Pull the old diff out, fiddle around in there and remove the locker rings (leave the selector fork, it plugs several holes and isn't in the way of anything)
          - Remove the left side output seal (the big one)

          On the V8 rear diff:
-open it in the same way as your stock
          -remove the diff
-if you want to re-use the left side seal carefully pop it out from the inside (they're like $65 new, so i figured I'd at least try. I was able to use the old seal in my locker box w/o any leaks)

Now the melding of the two:
-Unbolt the spur gear from the two diffs and swap them, so that the stock gear set is retained in the locker box (they're a matching cut pair)
-Put the torsen diff into the locker box, bolt it all up, and check for input shaft play. With any luck you'll have the same play, or lack thereof as the stock diff. Mine was identical between the two and I didn't need to re-shim anything. The shimming and measurement procedures are in the bentley, if needed.
-Put the torsen-style left side output seal into the locker box

If this is for a car with the 'big' style inner CV flanges (5ktq/200q's/etc) then you can simply use the V8 output flanges.
For the smaller cars you need to get a little more inventive. I used the two front output flanges from a 4kq, and had to insert a 'shim' to bottom the flange out inside the diff casing (the v8 output flanges are ~10mm longer). I happened to find two large nuts laying around that fit the bill perfectly and in they went. I was a little leery at this point since I didn't have a 'full' engagement of the output flange to the diff since they were shorter. But time was short and I had to get it done and in the car.

The end result once all was bolted back up in the car. Yummy yummy on-throttle oversteer with the center diff locked, and much better grip on the corner exits. I'm very happy with how this little project turned out, and so far after a couple dozen hard 4-wheel-spinning auto-x launches the diff hasn't complained a bit, just the tires

          Parts required:
          V8 rear diff unit: $150
V8 Left rear diff seal: $0 used old one
4kq front output flanges: $0 had them
Two big nuts: $0, well, priceless really.
          Synthetic gear lube: $10
          ---------------------------------------------
          Total: ~$160 "

          From another forum.
THank nate for the dirty work.

          Cheers
          Josh

Output flanges from the S2 are 108mm.
Output flanges from V8 are 108mm
Output flanges from other Coupe Quattros are a little samaler, so maybe for us lucky original S2 owners flanges will swap and no need to use the front ones from de 4kq.

              Great post Josh.

What about doing this to a URQ diff? What are the differences between the rear diff on an 84URQ with locker and the S2? Will the v8 diff fit the URQ in the same way? What car exactly is the "V8"? An a8? Thanks, des.

Believe it or not Audi actually had a whole model based on the Audi 100 circa 1993/94 called the Audi V8. Quite rare but a nice concept with a lag free engine coupled up to a quattro driveline. The concept was made more upmarket with the V8 engined A8 of course.

Rear of a UR should be almost identical to that of the S2 Coupe. Not sure on details of flange sizes and final drive ratios but they *should* be common !

Can't remember the locking options on a UR - but from memory the non torsen equipped cars (WR engines) could lock the centre and rear. Later cars with torsen centre (MB & RR) only had lockable rear IIRC...

Thanks Paul. Yep mine is a WR and has a locker center in the 016 box and a locker rear in the rear diff. i run a torsen diff in my Mrk2 golf TDi that has 230bhp and 350ft/lb and like the diffs charistics. I would like to keep the locked center in my 016, but a torsen up front and at back would be great!.

                                Foun this site:

                                FAQ inside the site:
                                Q. What type of limited slip differential do you offer?

                                A. We currently offer a rebuilt OEM Porsche rear lsd (limited slip differential) that is a ZF clutch type differential. These differentials are rebuilt to 60% lockup (can be higher if customer requests) and are a direct replacement for the OEM open rear differential. The clutch type differential offers a speed sensing differential to accommodate the torque sensing (Torsen) center differential. We also offer Quaife torque sensing limited slip differentials for the front.

Trying to find all the options possible.
Could this fit if it does the B5?
