    Flywheel is custom made (5.5kg).
Clutch is acctually for Viper. I had the disc center pieces macined out. Then i got 3 old audi disc and macined their center pieces out. After that i just welded the audi center pieces to new discs. I use stock clutch release bearing (Sachs).
It is quite hard to find 185mm clutch discs for audi spline with reasonable price.

There are enough people making big power to be with while making cheaper friction disks yiu would think maybe we just need to get a manufacturer interested?

I talked to this company in leeds uk.

        http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/files_contact_us

They can make an audi specific twin plate clutch for around 600 quid. They were 200mm not 185 so they reckoned they would last longer but would be not as light so very high rpm gear changes may be poorer than a 185mm twin.

They just needed a flywheel and stock clutch to measure. I'm very tempted as they said they should be smoother than a 4 puck sintered. They would modify the flywheel to fit the new clutch. 800ftlb was the limit so should be strong.

i have well into 850 NM range with mine. it holds well over 850 awhp drag race only car.

i have run Sintered Iron twin disc and Ceramic Bronze twin disc as well as made mine into a triple disc setup with Ceramic Bronze discs from Quartermaster.

it is a 7.25" Clutchmaster FX725 setup with the uprated strongest pressure plate. steel flywheel as i didnt like the aluminum one i ran at first.

4 cylinder drag only car. i know many people over here that street drive a twin disc clutch. and i do have to slip it just a little on launches as if i drop it the thing is too violent on launching.

          just my experience.

I'll built a special 140 mm triple disc sachs racing clutch for 1850 nm and lightweight flywheel. Weight of the kit is 6.2 kg (flywhell + Clutch).

I can sort for you such a set.

I personally use it for drag racing.

Has anyone experience on a non agressive twin plate street clutch that can handle say 750nm easily and last a useful amount of time. I just find the Sachs 4 puck sintered race clutch very agressive and causes vibration when driving in town. I have never had a twin plate clutch in a car so have no idea how agressive they are if using say organic disks. Most twin plate clutches i have seen are just setup to grip at high torque and so are sintered material etc. Surely this could be made nicer to drive but hold less torque by using organic material?

Can you explaine me why everyone uses this lightweight Flywheels ??
From my point of few this is the wrong way for dragracing.
My Flywheel weighs 14,5 kg ...
Best result with my streetcar was a 9,53 @ quater Mile.
Think the flywheel is one of the reasons ...

The Audi A4 B8 3.0 TDI stock clutch is multiplate and easily holds 800nm and up. The engagement is very smooth.
It won't fit the 01E obviously, but I am trying to say that the clutch does not have to be harsh.

@Michaels2s i dont want so much torque thats the reason why and for 12k rpm its lighter for the engine to work with this lightened drive.

Great information prj/dimitr! ! I suspected it was possible but few manufacturers make them that way. I wonder how different a 3.0tdi clutch is. Eg are input spline sizes the same or even flywheel diameter?

Here is a link that shows details on the b8 tdi twin plate clutch . Not going to work in our cars I would say..

Yup, that's why I said it's never going to work on 01E.

I just meant it as an example that you can have a great clutch with a very progressive and soft pedal that holds 800nm.

I've been running a SPEC combo of a 5+ pressure plate and a 3+ disc. It's harder then stock, but nice to use. Have been used on both track and street for several years. More then 5000km of track use Not sure how much street use.
This with a 2.5 stroker dynoed 584hp/702nm @wheels on a Mustang dyno(700+/850+ in engine). 1.8bar boost. Tested with 2.1bar without any cluth problem.

I have an audi A5 3.0 Tdi with multiplate clutch. The engage is very smooth and the pedal feels great. There are some 3.0 tdi here with over 400 hp. They participate at drag racing for many times and the clutch is the stock one. Not even a problem for this cars.

Now I just need a clutch company to make one to fit the 01e. Maybe the company in leeds is worth a try.
