YES!!

Methinks the guy in the US who made them said because they (US) don't get the 6 speed box, they weren't able to make one with 6 speed reverse lock out. I reckon it is possible to adapt this SS kit to include this, but it will take some time to figure it out....

Unlike the 5 speed tranny, the 6 speed does not have a syncro hub on the reverse gear, which is probably a good thing, as you could inardvently select reverse while on the move and depending on how fast you were moving, well, that WOULD strip the reverse cog! Not a nice thought. Fancy getting a box out this weekend Martyn?

I think?? the shifter is supposed to be ok on the 5 speed, but I don't see that?? the 5 speed box has the same reverse protection as the 6, so I'm not sure on this... one of our US cousins posted he had this for some time, so maybe he can confirm??

I've now done about 60 odd miles this wekend with it in, it's not a problem on the move, only real opportuniy to hit reverse is from neutral. Still not 100% happy about it though. Shame as the gear shift is superb

I don´t know why 034 motorsports selles the first liked item as short shift kit... because it´s 100% original part, the shifts are all the same
Don´t know about the second linked item, but the 034 short shift kit for 01A gearbox is really a short shift kit, I like it a lot

The JHM one I know member have had issues with the lockout, I remember the hell adjusting the reverse lockout on these things

I've been running the Billzcat short shifter for 4 years, and I did manage to get the reverse lockout perfectly sorted.. but.. it involved a HECK of a lot more tooling around than the supplied instructions made out !!

In use it's really shortened the throw making it feel much more precise, although it has made only the 1st to 2nd shift different:
Instead of shifting straight down I need to shift it down and towards me a tad, almost a diagonal shift compared to factory, which initially took a bit to get used to...

Once you've used one though I couldn't imagine anyone being inclined to go back to rowing the stock shift through its considerably longer travel ;-)
