I have just seen it. The caliper backplate attachment plate for the handbrake has corroded to the point that the attachment plate has disintegrated.

Was it these bits ? Mine were corroded too & floating about inside the handbrake drums but following advise from Kim Collins @ QST my mechanic left mine off. Handbrake works OK without them.Now RS2'less

Yes they are used as a wear plate rather than push against the carryer each time you put the hand brake onRS 2 580HPComment
