    Imminent clutch upgrade

    Evening gents.

I'm looking to upgrade the clutch on my S2. Currently running a Southbend (stage 2b I think? ), 3b s/m flywheel and approximately 400-430 crank hp. Although this clutch has a nice feel its useless at getting of the line, did a run at the pod last year and it's slipped all the way into 3rd gear

Would like to avoid twinplate, so I'm thinking perhaps a Sachs performance item. Possible with the paddle friction plate. Other than that looks like helix do something similar. Anybody got any real world advice they can offer?

Just want something that will allow me to actually launch the thing on the occasions when I want it.

    Thanks

I am currently running a billet SMF from Will @ VRS, combined this with a brand new Sachs paddle clutch, it is aggressive but I don't mind it and am used to it. No chance of slippage here

i use a smf with sachs sport clutch and organic race disc for 560hp without problems
I have to mention that I do not drive a lot of mijls in a year
only thing about this clutch or an other brand off race clutch is a heavy clutch pedal

Looking for a bit of advice too, I am running a single mass 7a flywheel with 3b clutch on my aby, what would be the best clutch as mine is running almost 400bhp

Sachs SRE. You can't go wrong with them.

That's interesting, didn't realise VRS could supply these. Maybe worth getting in touch.

We had a group buy from Sachs a few years back. You can buy them online, direct from Sachs or through someone like VRS. You'll probably get it cheaper direct unless someone has one on the shelf and they want to move it. Go for the sintered puck type, you won't regret it. I've had mine in for a good few years and it's seen loads of launches without any slipping. You get used to the slightly heavier pedal quickly and the bite isn't bad in traffic once it beds in. I would recommend them for road use, especially if you do some red light racing. I hope you have some spare rear driveshafts as you stand a good chance of snapping them with a good launch from this type of clutch

Thanks Steve that's exactly what I'm after

Shame I missed out on the group buy.

I made the mistake of spending a lot of money on a Southbend Stage 4 clutch. It started falling apart after 5k mikes and I never even launch mine. Bought an SRE unit now.

We live and learn Alex. The pedal on mine has always felt lighter than the standard clutch

I've been running a Spec stage 3+ for a few years, it's a carbon disc not a paddle type. Easy to use and never slipped
