I asked Keith a few times about that box and he always told me that it was a standard box. However I asked him again last Sunday and he told me it was in fact an Audi Sport number.

HAving delved more into what box to get may well opt for one from V6. Apparently has same ratios as 3B with added benefit of 3.89 diffs so could be a good option. Not sure how straight forward change would be though and what other bits would need changing. Not quite as straight forward as I had hoped but guess these things never are?

      Cheers

Need something to get back up there with you Tom. 4.55 not a bad time but feel disappointed for some reason. Guess you know where I'm comming from. Always want more. Any turbo I get will always have the problem of the gears so really need to sort something there first.

That would be something special, especially as his a stripped out racer. Want to be there to take pics of his face.

Standard type -85 box Gearbox not the main problem IMHO......

Read the message! Said wanted to get back up there with Tom (0-60 in 3.6 not stripped out. Mega respect). Changing at 50 in 2nd has got to be a good half a second lost by the time you include change time and lost spooling time. Did not say was the main problem but certainly one that needs sorting.

I did read the message. Look at my first reponse:

"Why change box? Lower gearing=quicker car 0-60 could be faster if you only needed 1 shift, but not necessary. 1/4 mile times would go up with a box with "taller" gearing."

What you win by only changing once could be lost in slower acelration in 1. and 2.
If you did start in 2. you only needed one change, but acelration would be slower I guess?
About lost spooling time: Keeping your right foot down when changing should help, but it's a bit hard on the drivetrain

                        Cheers,
                        Roger
