no modifications needed. Just need to make sure you have the right offset. I changed to oz superleggra a few years back on 17s which are slightly narrower than my s6 17s and several kilos lighter each which made a massive difference to how the car drives also.Greg

I really don't want to change how the car looks the only thing I have a problem with is the center cap, Are the Avus S4/S6 wheels available or can the center caps be changed so they are the same as original S2 alloys?.
Off set will be a problem personally (I'm a quadriplegic) Another member who lives pretty close to me should be able to help me out.

I do have another nearly new set in stock for when the current ones ware out, but in 215/45/17 which I used briefly (less than 1K) mounted on a set of 7"x17" wheels which adorned my 3B S2 before reverting back to the OE diamond cut five spoke 16's for two reasons. Number one being I think they suit the car perfectly and number two being the back roads around here are rough as hell and a 205/55/16 soaks up way more bumps than a 225/45/17.
To fill the arches nicely with a 7" rim aim for an ET 27-32 offset, that's what I ran on my 3B and it handled great on good road surfaces and looked bang on, I had a set of ET 27 Compomotives and some ET 40 Toora multi spoke's which I spaced out by 12 mm running studs and hub centring spacers, I tried various brands and types of tyre before giving up and going back to the 16's as the car was a daily driver and I got sick of being shook about on rough surfaces.
8"x17" wheels fit very well indeed with an offset of around stock (ET37) or a couple of mm either way, the S6 rims being an obvious choice for an OE look, 7.5" X 17" is also a good option if going aftermarket, again 225/45's are a good fit though one can go for a 235/40 on an 8" wheel.
My RS2 will be staying on it's original wheels with R1R's for the foreseeable future, my C4's both run on OE 3B rims with 215/55/16's which fill the arches quite well and provide a nice ride and my B3 S2 re-shell project will be fitted with 15" OE Speedlines with a 37 mm offset as there's not a lot of room under the arches of that platform.1989 B3 2.0 3A 80 quattro... I understand what people are saying with 18's being too harsh etc but for me they are the best looking wheel on a S2 especially the Coupe for looks and how they fit even though you need spacers. The stance and over all look is so much better than standard 16's

I guess wheel choice should come down to personal preference as well as how you drive the car and want to the ride to feel.
I really wish they'd made the OE 3B rims in 17" and 7.5"'s wide as I love the design. Though I'm perfectly happy with the Porsche wheels fitted to RS2's.1989 B3 2.0 3A 80 quattro... Budget 1.8T Project.

I have a set off B5 S4 alloys which have been refurbed and not had tyres on since. I was thinking off selling them but intrigued what they would be like on the S2. Can anyone who has gone from the OE 3B alloys to the B5 S4 alloys share their experience on how the car handled, accelerated/braked etc. There's a fair weight in them compared to the 3B alloys.
