  • Goodyear Eagle F1 noise

Hi - just had two new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres on my Golf ... and there seems to be a lot of rumbling road noise which was not there the day before.

I guess new tyres seem noisy..but is this right.. I am almost suspicious that the tyre folk might have done my tracking wrong, and the tyres are not rolling true??

    Any thoughts?

Make sure the wheel bolts are done up tight and they're not over inflated. If they were not balanced correctly then you would feel the car shaking, usually around 50 - 60mph. Did you ask for the tracking to be checked?

I agree with newsh. Hoping for your sakes it's not the tyre noise itself.

If you dont mind me asking, i am thinking of buying 4 x 255/40 17 tyres for my URS6 plus speck and was thinking Goodyear Asymetric 2 tyres also known as goodyear F1 i think but not the GSD3. My question, did you buy Goodyear F1 GSD3 speck tyres or the Goodyear Asymetric 2 tyres? Your answer will help me out. Thanks

Eagle F1 is a very noisy tyre compared to other alternatives. This is normal.

I just checked the stats on trye performance (european law now) to help people decide instead of listen the the marketing blurb and these Goodyear eagle F1 tyres (GSD3) are very quiet at only a very low 65db. Very grippy tyre for sure and apparantly the track boys like them for that reason.

                Are they the GSD3 type?

Thought so as GSD3 tyres are extremely quiet 65db.

Your assymetric 2 tyres are actually reasonably quiet when you compare noise db against other tyres.I am checking all this out at the mo as going to purchase 4 of 255/40 x 17.

Oe mercedes continental con 5 are 72db

The GSD3 that I have owned were the noisiest tires I ever had.
In big part due to the V shaped thread.

If you want a quieter, but well performing tire, try the Nokian Z.
