Yup, and 225/45/17 is also very, very close to 205/60/15 rolling radius, and a cheap tyre. Not noticed mine, or any cabrio's looking like they have ballooned tyres on these rims
There's at least 5mm clearance to the tyre sidewall too
Boleros, ET37, 225/45/17 and no clearance issues on a '91 CQ20V
Going back to the 205/60/15 speedlines soon, now I have a decent set, and hoping for a better ride quality after that
Don't forget this option - Avus 6 spoke S2 oem rims with 225/50/16 tyres, good grip, but a but squishy maybe, but comfortable and 16" Avus rims are inexpensive.
I run 17x7 et37 on a 225/45. I have approx. 5mm clearance to the trackrod end.
Different brand tyres make a huge difference some are more 'square' on the sidewall. Also avoid rim protector tyres they will look dreadful and be too close to the trackrod
Bowie69-interesting point on the ride quality.......but I have to do this, then maybe sell them!!
mrt105-A picture is always good, cheers.
Irishrwd-never thought about the rim protector possibilities? Cheers.
I was running 215/45 on 8J et30, not sure about the 7J, they're narrow as... If you have an opportunity try some bad tyres on them Just to see how they would look.
