    Woohoo got an S2

Well I finally put some dosh up for an old S2 (92 5 Speed). Drives pretty well - though I think the turbo may be lagging slightly (seems to kick in around ~3500 rpm). Also a bit of rattle when under load in high gear (like doing a round about in 4th). I guess I can't complain - the car is 14 years old. Still brakes in a straight line for the cameras...

Any advice regarding the rattle/squeak at low revs? - it kind of reminds me of when the water pump went in my old 80 Sports.

It seems like a lot of you put porche/other brakes on the front - does it really make that much difference?

Depends where squeaks are coming from, you can get a velour type material tape from audi which goes inbetween squeaky bits to stop the squeaking.

Welcome onto forum too, sounds like it might have a few mods if it doesnt spool til 3.5k

Things are getting better... and worse

Well, I've been driving the S2 around - the turbo seems a lot smoother now and performance has picked up. Apparently this car has been left standing for quite a while. Starting to realise those brakes really aren’t up to the job... - looks like I need to find ~ £700 from somewhere...

Another thing that has just started happening - sounds like a fan belt (or something similar) is a bit loose - squeaks a bit when I first start-up - but then immediately stops. I think this points to the fact shes not been serviced properly for ~10k (only lube change last service ~ 2k ago).
