/\ This. It will be cheaper and better all round to buy an S2 - trust me. If you have a look at my project thread you will see why. It is not as simple and easy as you think. There are a LOT of other considerations, costs and nuances that you haven’t considered.

    Fast
    Cheap
    Reliable

I second that. And look for a project S2. They do come up now and again.

Go for it, just be under no illusions about cost.

This is a forum for all similar to S2 cars, mines a 7A, Alex's was a 7A and now big power turbo, so just go for it if you want.

The 7A should yield a good head, with no cracks, which is the envy of a lot of S2 owners.

Not at all, plenty of people have built stuff, but your expectations of being able to build something reliable, with your power goals for anything close to the budget you suggest...are not realistic.

Let's just consider only the main parts you need, without all the smaller things, without any work anywhere else on the car, still small brakes, tired suspension, etc

              Turbo
              Inlet manifold
              Exhaust manifold
              Intercooler
              Injectors
              Exhaust
              Clutch
              Engine management of some kind
              ...

Go for it, I say, it will be really nice, but it will NOT be as cheap as you think.... Or close to as cheap as you hope!

              Good luck!

don't get me wrong i dont think it will be cheep i also don't think it will be done soon so it gives me time to slowly build and mod as i have the money im not going to sit down one week end and bashout a 450 bhp car i know this i what to get it turboed on low boosd and strat modding the engine ecu and the rest of the car from there.

but on a side note what injectors do you guys recormend and as for the guys that have turboed a 7a before how did you run oil feed and return?

Well it makes a lot of difference how you get parts.
If you were to go for around 280 (max300 on the right dyno then you could use S2 parts
You’d need to lower the compression ratio with custom pistons or machining yours .
                            Fit rods and RS2 bearings.
                            Steel head gasket.
Change the valves to S2 type.
Machine head for water manifold and hall sensor ( or use the one in your dizzy)
I’ve got a pair of standard ABY manifolds
                            You’ll need to find
Second hand K24 with oil lines
S2 motronic ECU and engine loom
                            Stage1 chipset.
Oil filter housing and sump with drain extension.
This would be a budget ES2 as they call them in the US (ersatz S2)
A stock S2 with stage 1 chipset is fun to drive and pretty quick.
The torque comes in by 2000 rpm and you get a good push in the back.

Alex will come in and tell me what I’ve missed.
