Trying to trace my old S2

    Hello all!

How I miss my S2... It's been 20+ years since I parted with my S2 due having to be sensible, stop spending my money on my auto baby and spend it on my human baby instead. Yep, pregnancy forces sale - not the best line in an ad, but it was the truth! Weirdly, back then I couldn't find a buyer and ended up having to trade it in instead.

I really want to trace the car and see if it's still motoring. I'd love to buy another so may well go mad and splurge now the aforementioned baby is now self-sufficient.

Due to a house flooding incident years ago I lost ALL my paperwork, documents and any photos I had so I have absolutely no record of the car whatsoever and I cannot even remember the registration number. I wish DVLA could do an owner lookup as opposed to a vehicle but it doesn't seem possible.

    Here's what I remember:

I purchased the car 2000/2001 and sold it 2002/2003
S2 Coupe in dark metallic green with a black cloth interior
5 speed although I remember somebody telling me they thought it may have been converted from a 6 speed (might be complete rubbish)
    'K' registration
I'm sure it had 5 spoke alloys
After I bought it I took it to Kim Collins in Haywards Heath and spent a lot of money having a good check over and service. It needed a new radiator which was a scary amount.
I eventually traded it in to a garage in Horsham, West Sussex. I think it was what is now Peter Cooper Prestige in Plummers Plain but I might be wrong.

It's not much to go on I know but it's worth a try. Honestly, I've tried every avenue I can think of. It would be nice to find something even just to prove to my petrol-head son that his mum was once cool!

    Thank you

Thank you but I tried that already. They changed their system in 2004 so nothing goes back that far sadly.

Green was a popular colour so quite a few about. Without a registration number its going to be impossible. Did you go to any meets that were perhaps attended by forum members who posted pics? Any relatives have a pic?
        Anyway,
Now is a great time to get back into an S2. They are very cheap at the moment.

Can you recall if it had rare options like rear opening windows as that may help you narrow down also.

I've seen ABY's and 3B's on a K plate, the five speed gearbox and five spoke alloys would suggest it would have been a 3B...

Can you recall what type of dash and door-card trim's it had, carbon-fiber, wood or perforated black leather? If it was the later then almost certainly 3B.

Unfortunately a lot of perfectly good cars got broken for their engines around 2007-2010 when they were at their lowest price, a running MOT'd S2 Coupe could be picked up for around £2K, Avants even less if a bit tatty.

Pete Berry at White Cottage Quattros might know the car, he's in the Horsham area and works on a lot of S2s and URs.

The interior was the black cloth with 'quattro' logo, on the doors too. I think it had the carbon trims but honestly, I can't remember... I've tried a few family members but nothing yet.

Maybe DVLA can help, have you contacted them? If a car was registered to you at a given address then likely they'll have records......... obviously for a fee because they're into making money?!
