    Hello Forum

    Hi all,

My names Nick, I have been an avid Audi fan and owner for the last 30 years. My model favorite is the B5 S4 saloon, which I have owned 4 of, along with 2 20V coupe quattro's and various over S3 etc. I presume I can't add to the forum until I've completed this introduction?
A friend has an S2 which has been dry stored for 7 years and I am looking to get it started and hopefully MOT'd very soon.
looking for some advice on getting it started after such a long time not running do's dont's etc.

    Thanks,

    Nick.

    Usual stuff for re commission.
Pull the plugs and a little redex in each cylinder.
Drain the old fuel and check the pump is still working.
Check timing belt. Replace if there are cracks or looks worn.
    Change the oil and filter.
Disconnect fuel pump relay and turn engine over with plugs out to build up oil pressure and eject redex.
Replace relay and go for a start.

        Hi all,

Thanks for your reply's and welcomes.

So, a bit more of an update. the car is being moved from a very a small dry stored unit, to somewhere bigger that's covered, so we can start the refurbishments.
It has been dry stored for the last 20 years! (not 7 as I previously thought). Surly this is now going to need a new cam-belt, tensioners (and bottom pulley?) before we can think about turning it over on the starter?

After reading a bit about draining the fuel system and problems with air locks etc, should I just siphon out the tank as far as possible, disconnect fuel lines at the engine, change the fuel filter and use the fuel pump (if it runs) to flush through fresh fuel? Inspect tank with borascope?

Pictures will follow as soon as its in the light of day! It was a lovely condition when stored with a fresh respray, big brakes and a few RS2 bits. The interior is not in good condition, so depending on how the restart goes we are looking to get it MOT'ed and either sell or split it between us (me buying in) and getting the inside sorted and keeping as a weekend toy.

I know this is an open ended question but, What sort of price am I going to have to pay for a decent interior (with door cards). doesn't have to be RS2 or pole position seats, just something decent?

Not an S2, but here a picture of my last B5 S4 to keep you going. Was running 420BHP with 262,00 on the clock before sale.

        More updated to follow.

If its been 20 years then it would be wise ro change the belt before doing anything!
I've never had an airlock in an S2 fuel system. It has a flow and return plus a breather pipe. Might be worth getting the injectors cleaned and tested though.
Plain cloth S2 seats aren't too expensive. Is it a coupe or avant? Sal here on the forum is breaking an avant. Maybe he still has the seats.

Def change the belt and tensioners etc. There is a guide on the forum you can refer to if doing yourself.
I would also pull the plugs and manually turn the engine over as well before trying to start on the current or new belt so you can check the engine is turning over ok. Would recommend using a decent engine oil flush

              Hi Nick

I've got a decent pair of leather front seats, from an early coupe but will work in coupe or avant. I may also have some coupe front door cards but they will need the faux leather re-glueing (most do!)
