The last thing that world needs is Kryton in a Uber-Wagon - I've seen what he can do in an MR2!! Hopefully there will be some nice Quattros in Germany when we go in a couple of weeks for him to admire!

Hi on the audi choice and welcome.
I loved the old 205, me first few cars were all 205s, all donar parts for the next 205 as bits and bobs would break . Till I found the mk2 golf :mischeif: "oh joys" but then the quattro goodness gets everyone in the end.
            Coupe all the way.

Mine aren't so comfy anymore... the padded soles have been taken out ever since the new hard engine mounts went in. :mischeif:

If you want to change your Avant's "family man" feeling, just PM Corey and get some 034 hard engine mounts fitted, believe me, it takes a few hundred miles to get used to them but once you do, boy oh boy, do they make your right foot heavier and your spine and ears just get addicted to the new race car rumble coming from the engine. It's like being involved in the combustion process and feeling like you're in a kind of symbiosis with the racing pedigree of the S2 that was previously "hidden""dampened" if you see what I mean...

I used to own a really fast station wagon, now I drive a muscle car !

Wow - are those 034 mounts *that* noticeable ?

Like the way you summed up the experience though

When I first fired the car up after fitting them and felt the vibes coming thru the steering wheel, I first thought, " OK as usual, you've overdone it and now you're stuck with them"

Then I just drove the car and below 3500 rpm, there is a difference, but a defintely acceptable one IMHO. It's when you start whipping the engine that the experience changes completely !

I love them now and wouldn't go back to standard mounts for anything.

If you can afford an ABY vs the 3B, then go for an ABY. You get 6 speed box, overboost, coilpacks and dual mass flywheel which all add up to a more modern smoother feeling car IMO.

Standard buying advice is too ignore mileage to a certain extent and buy on condition spending as much as you can afford. Buy a dog and it will cost you a fortune.

This fact has lead me to favour an Avant tbh.... do the rear hatches on the coupe not leak also?

Having owned a coupe before upgrading to the avant they can leak but the usual problem is they creak............having said all that I may well get an early coupe again (but thats another story)
