Guys, why try tell this guy not to RWD his quattro, I think it is a great idea, but thats not the point, he NEEDS it 2WD for the rules, and because it is way more predictable to drift. As for ripping up tyres... erm, he is drifting, ripping the **** out of tyres is what you do!

    Go for it man.

I have an 80quattro you could have for pennies, it is just 2.0L but is a basis for you to experiment.

Why bother - *just* supercharge the V6 engine - and use lighter / stronger bottom end to keep it reliable. COuld be a fun project actually.

The latest is I'm not going to rip apart an S2..............................not yet anyway!
Currently on the look out for a guinea pig to try out my ideas on, guinea pig will more than likely be an Audi 80 2.8 quattro. But if it's a success, I'll defo be on the prowl for a nice S2.
I'll keep you guys up to speed on how things go.

Hey it's a Q! not an O! hehehe well in that you're right... but bro, I did have a very nice jap drift machine, but.. hehe.. to tell you the truth, now I prefer my Quattro. But if you still want an RWD on a AWD chasis.. good luck mate.. but you will have to tell me how many tires you broke! lol Oh... a few months ago I saw a video on youtube of a RWD S2... it was nice

20voc, that's the R33 we already have. You're missing the point of trying to break away from the jap dominated world of drift. As I said before, 4WD is ok for powersliding but veeeeeery dangerous during the transition between corners. Imagine a superbike rider 'highsiding' when the spinning rear wheel grips, same thing with a AWD set up. When it grips, it grips good and spits you across the road/track.

bro... you want real drift? get on the interesting thing tha is the power slide (4wd drift), is more diffucult and more beutiful than a simple rwd drift. Convert an S2 to RWD...sorry me but is a very bad idea, you wont handle the bunch of torque the engine has, second, as Paul said, why downgrade a AWD chassis to a RWD car??? I don't see the point of doin' it. Get a Volvo 240, put'em a 2.3 T5 engine with 400hp then you WILL get a nice rwd drift...in a RWD car! Third, if you already have an R33, why don't you buy a 25GT? 2.5L turbo 24V and rwd! I did have one of those engines on my RS13 Silvia, it was really fun..a lot of torque and the rear wheels spinning always...but be careful... it's a dangerous car. Get on to the Quattro world, you wont be unsatified Torque on all 4 corners bro! think about it!

    Cheers

There is already alot of adjustment with the suspension on the cars front and back
    Wishbone/balljoints
    Anti roll bars etc.

Cheers Dave. Sounds like a 'quick rack', widely used in motorsport and the like. Might come in handy!

I think 034 have a modified rack to reduce the number of turns lock to lock (it's in one of their track cars). Maybe that will also provide more angle. I don't have enough understanding to help further, but it might be a good place to start looking.

O.k, think I've sussed the RWD problem, now the next one.

How would I go about increasing the steering lock for more angle? Surely there must be a 'rally' derived mod for this? Also, any adjustable suspension components on the market ie, tension arms, camber adjustment top hats (top of struts), castor adjustment and the like???

Any one know of a good after market 2 way locked diff for an aby engines s2?

Cheers muchly S2central, the weight sounds the same as most Jap cars that compete in the EDC. Our Skyline is around the 1500kg mark. Pretty confident I could lose at least 350kg's from that.
Does anyone have a blueprint type diagram of the quattro system?
I like to think I know one end of a spanner from the other, done a couple of engine swaps in the past, included a complete change of loom, now that was a ****** to do, lol!
A 4WD drift is actually quite dangerous, especially during the transition from one corner to another. I.e; Wheels grip and throw the car into the wall! Seen it done by a guy in an Impreza at Trax a couple of years back.

MRC in Banbury? Not a million miles from Northampton, cool.

Cheers again guys for the info.

Boy the General does make all the right noises when its on full chat - that looks to me like locked quattro drifting - none of your RWD nonsense (LOL). With BIG torque then its easy enough to break traction like that. SERIOUS powersliding going on there. In fairness - it must be a hoot to do that once in a while, but I wouldn't pay to go watch it !

Oh an S2 Coupe weighs between 1300 and 1500 kg depending on engine/gearbox type and options fitted. I reckon you'd get down to 1100-1200kg with some serious effort... Then add the cage of course.

S2 hubs are 5x112 PCD - not 5x100 like the VW and A3/TweeTee derivatives

Where do we get our mods done ???? Good lord - you can tell you are a newbie
A lot of people on here do most of their own work - comes with the territory of being an I5T freak - you just gotta love workin on them. This forum actually spawned a company called MRC in Banbury which has developed a solid reputation for big scarey modifed Audis and they can take on just about anything (time permitting).

We also have Corey here who runs Quattronics and is an agent for 034 in the UK - another top bloke who has been on the Audi scene a long time and recently took the plunge to set up shop looking after performance Audis (and whatever else).

For parts, we have some great contacts (and S2 Avant owners) at VAGparts.com who will do you best UK prices on original Audi parts they get direct from Germany. Ask for Martyn or Paul - great lads and they know their parts !

Who else - oh yeah we have Pete Reeve who has been supplying parts for quattros for a long time - he recently joined us.

I myself operate as a special agent for Samco and got custom Silcone hose kits for the S2/RS2 due to public demand... And I also provide a rather popular ECU upgrade for ABY/AAN owners. I'm an electronic systems guy by trade so often get asked for help on electrical/wiring issues.

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, but this place is littered with guys who have access to machine shops and expertise in all sorts of things... Oh we have BRY for example who does lots of brake kits. We have paint & bodywork experts, and just about every kind of contact you need to point you in the right direction.

We tend to avoid the 'cheque book tuners' who advertise heavily in the VW/Audi magazines as they are much more interested in recent vehicles. This forum is the fountain of knowledge for all things S2.

Yeah, the S2's I've looked at are around 3.5 to 4k. Would still rather have the S2. There are umpteen ways of loosing weigh from a car. What does the S2 weight by the way?

Also where do you guys get your mods and get your work done (will be doing a majority myself, more fun that way).

Concerning wheel size, are the hubs 5x100 pcd? And whats the maximum width you can get away with with rolled arches? I'm going for 18" wheels by the way.
