Ive purchased a 1990 audi s2 with an aftermarket turbo. This is my first turbo car so I have no idea what is going on. I know how turbos work and I can work on anything. I just need to know what parts I need to buy. Im going to have the block rebuilt (i hate that part) so it will handle more boots. I need a turbo timer but I cant find one b/c my car stock didnt come with one. the car has 193k miles on it so Im worried about pushing it for now, but when I have the $Money$, Im going to hopefully get over 400hp to the ground. If anyone knows anything about where I should begin, please, let me know before I blow this thing to shreds!

Welcome
Why do you need a turbo timer? They are the work of the devil!
Just drive it off boost for the last few miles...
Imagine this, you have driven off boost on the last few miles to get to your destination, everything is happy, the turbo is cooling.
You park up and turn on the timer, now the engine sits there ticking over on idle, and what happens? It gets hotter again!!
Plus, the S2 has a pump built into the cooling system specifically for cooling the turbo after a hard run anyway

Welcome to the forum. It has a great search feature. Im sure if you look you will find that you don't need a turbo timer.
Just have a search for upgrade or RS2 spec and you will see that these cars have been
extensively modified for years and years and this forum has it all documented.
First thing i would recommend is to fit a boost gauge, if its running a stock map you should be seeing .8bar boost.
What turbo is fitted to it?

Welcome bro...! Hey but is the engine having some problems? 193K miles is not a problem on this engines... you'not dealing with any Honda or Chevy motor...! Is there any smoke on the exh? go and measure the cyl pressure on each cylinder and check for pressure loss.- Looking for a S2

The turbo was purchased off of someone like 20k miles ago or less I think. The manifold is custom built."There's NO such thing as TOO much POWER!!!!!"

The engine runs great. I had it jacked up today b/c of a fuel leak and the block is somewhat covered in oil. I'll track it down so I can make her clean soon. No problem eh? I want to turn the boost up but Im not going to waist my time on a turbo that is only good for 380hp. I still have stock injectors on the car and I dont even know what those push out. I'll check on the smoke."There's NO such thing as TOO much POWER!!!!!"

You should see a lot more than 8 psi. You're probably way down on power, maybe a boost leak. Or your WGFV (N75) is not working.
1 Bar is atmospheric pressure = approx 14.5psi.
My car with an RS2 turbo, manifolds, injectors and custom map is running 28psi (Nearly 2 Bar of boost)Comment
