    New to forum- S2 3b

Hi, i've been a browser on this forum for a long time now...its an excellent source of information.

My father and i have owned this car for 2 1/2 years now

not a daily driver, but gets used hard

its 8 previous owners and 145k miles

totally standard, we've added bilstein sports (B6?)

plan to fit Audi TT 312mm front brakes in september (standard brakes are horrendous..)

could do with a complete re-bush (subframes etc also), although its not too bad

car runs very well; every journey is a risk to the license!

    ultimately would like to do:-
-aby conversion, because of the individual coils
    -chip to 270bhp?
    -V8 rear diff
    -S4 rear calipers/ 256mm brakes
    -de-cat
-want it to remain completely stock exterior/ wheels wise...very discrete machine

we have deleted the a/c, it has cloth trim but it does have electrically operated rear windows that slide in and out (i believe this option was quite rare?)

originally registered in milton keynes (6 months after it was first sold?)

has been suggested it was maybe a press car/ sat in a dealership for 6 months?

anyway look forward to participating more actively on this great forum

have attached photo...not good with IT

hmm, wonder if anyone on here can confirm it's early history, seems the early press/audi cars were all emerald green.

Given it's an early one, have you (legally) decatted it yet? Would give you a few extra horses and increases the warble on the 3b nicely too from experience

    Cheers

No need to convert to ABY for 270bhp. Paul's latest Homefry on here for the 3B will get you 280bhp with de-cat... Good looking S2 you have there. Best colour too .

Good point, I would not convert to ABY unless you really really want the hassle of going for serious power... (Still not a necessity even then).

I still think they look great on the original speedline 5 spokes. I also like your street sleeper approach too.

        Cheers,

        Steve.

If i were you i would just contact MRC tuning. www.mrctuning.com. They can sell you very good generic chips for your 3b at about £250. They will give you ~280bhp and 1.5 bar boost providing everything else is in good order.

I had them on my 3b for about 3 years and was very pleased with them.

          HTH.

            Welcome

I first wondered why you have chosen the TT brakes rather than 996's, but guess its to keep the stock/stealth look?
ive got them on mine, they are pretty good, but not as good as 996's which Ive also had on my first S2, so will be upgrading again at some point

If I remember correctly the 996 calipers don't fit under the 5 spokes.

                Hi Thanks for welcome

-de-cat not carried out yet....was told it doesn't make much difference...i've always thought it probably would....better noise would be appreciated though

-TT brakes for 3 x reasons 1) cost 2) want to keep the wheels 3) easier maintenance?

-re chips...good advice....i'm just worried about the spark jump thingmo from the distributor...???don't want bent conrods etc...

-re past history.....the car has had 2x earlier registration no's - one private reg. and first H plate which was different number.....i can dig out the log book/ MOTs and find out

                thanks ross

Good point re the wheel size doh!

When I decatted my old one it made a BIG difference sound wise, and definitly pulled better too.

But I did do it this way....

Well the coil conversion is rather straight forward, depending on which way you go. The cheapest way and properly also the easiest way is to:

                    1. Get AAN ECU (normally they are cheaper then ABY ECU)
                    2. Get 034 Motorsport High Output Coil Kit with Underterment ends and bracket option. Perhpas also add 5 plugs to go on the coils.
                    3. Switch the wires around in the ECU 55 pin plug using S2central.net diagram.
                    4. You need 5 wires from ECU to each 034 coil

Then you should have done the conversion
                    Sleeper S2 Avant +450

                    A6 Avant 2.7t Stage 3
