buying a cq 20v with an s2 engine

I am thinking of purchasing this car, ther are a couple of things nagging at the back of my mind and i was wondering if anyone can help:
1) It has a normal front bumper which doesn't fit as the radiator is too big, I can't seem to find a replacement but the v6 coupe's seen to have a similar front bumper, are they the same or not, and if not does anyone know where I can get an S2 front bumper and how much should i be paying for one?
2) The seller says that everything between the engine and the wheels is s2 spec (ie gearbox etc). Is there any difference between the rest of the drive train in the 20v quattro and the s2 and if there is how can i spot them and what are the implications of having 20v quattro parts? (i am a little bit worried about the gearbox handling the power).

V6 bumper will be fine! V6 or S2 bumper can cost between 50 and 200 depends whether you want a mint one or can repair a damaged one.
Couple of easy ways to check the car.
If the engine fitted is a later s2 ABY engine code (no distributer + Silver Alloy (not black plastic) "20V TURBO" cover on rocker cover) then gearbox should be 6 speed in which case its an S2 gearbox. If it has an earlier s2 3B engine then unlike above it will have a black plastic cover and a Distributer i think the gearbox between a 3B and a 7A (20v cq) is virtually the same. Someone will correct me if im wrong.
Everything gearbox back on a 20vcq and a s2 is the same anyways. And if it has S2 hubs the wheels will be 5 bolt and not 4.

well its defo 3B engine and 5 speed so thats fine, and it had 5 bolts so that looks good too, it looks like a labour of love that maybe ran out of money because there are niggles with it like the front bumper but then they have spent a lot of time and effort elsewhere on the car and for what they are asking for it its a lot of car for the money. I know this car will cost me a fortune, all the fast ones do but i got to scratch that itch.

The CQ 5 speed has much shorter ratios than the S2 box. It would surprise me if they had bothered fitting the S2 5 speed box as there is little point. 5 stud hubs fit straight on the CQ, so I'd guess it has CQ driveshafts which have a smaller inner flange PCD - this will come into play if you ever want to fit a 6 speed gearbox or an S2 / Torsen rear diff.
Brakes are the same - toss. CQ suspension is pretty soft and FARB is thinner.. lots more little idiosyncracies

Sounds like it could be a good car. IMHO if someone has gone to the bother of doing the conversion then it will be well maintained and probably be quite a "tight" car.

well i'm gonna get it on saturday morning 12 months mot been done today so no immediate safety effecting work to be done. now to find a scrap coupe to pinch things off cos there are a couple of bits of trim and a dummy switch missing, apart from that and it needing a good polish it looks and drives very well.

if i lived closer i would have it for £200 but it would be too much of a pain in the behind to get it back from leicester

And the bumper on that one is the same bumper as you have. You'll need a V6/S2 one.
That on being a 2WD and a 10v, will have very few interchangable parts. body parts would work though...
