Finally - with the heads off its quick and easy to remove cover for the upper oil galleries and make sure everything is clean in there - a new gasket should be with the head set - but maybe not.

Hope you took lots of photos for the narrow tubes to the variable inlet manifold & evap plumbing - mine looked totally orrible and somebody else had bodged a bit of it too.
There are a couple of silver rubber o-rings in the pack....I was wandering what they were for... BUT....No Valley Pan gasket

Narrow tubes? Are you talking about the ones in the inlet manifold? If so then yes I have a few pictures

Hmmm, I may have to take a pic of all the bits that come in the set, as there are a few things in there that I just have no idea are for....i'll probally discover them as I go along..

            So far I have used:
            -big inlet manifold Gasket
            -throttle body to inlet Gasket
            -injector o-ring seals

Maybe I should start a thread of the work in progress..

dude - you need the manuals to do this properly - the camshaft caps have to be done in correct order really - once out the VSOS are really easy as long as you have a good valve spring compressor - the expensive one in Halfords is actually very good and doesnt break the bank - you will find that el cheapo ones are false economy.

I can post up the manual extracts for AAH engine on this if it helps... will take a while to compile into compact PDF

Definitely renew the VSOS when doing this rebuild - even if it means having an engine shop do that work - you dont want to be lifting heads again in 10k miles if some old VSOS start leaking.

Your very right there actually....after spending soooo much already I kind of thought "oh the valve stem seals will be fine" but yet as you say...10miles down the road and they start to leak then thats more ££££. I've been cross reading loads of threads and build articles all over the web for torque settings and various other information but stuff like camshaft caps haven't been put into detail....I can't find a decent manual anywhere and the only one I know of is the Bentley one but that is bloody expensive I feel pretty stupid now as the car is nose up, engine partially stripped and yet I don't have a proper manual Don't get me wrong I have worked on plenty of cars but....I have always had a haynes manual to cross check what I am doing......I actually feel alittle bit sick now
