    Audi 80Q talk to me.

Hey there. Recently joined up to get info'd up and have a look at what you s2 chaps get upto.
Im Dunstan, ive had a fair few cars over the years,my best being my long term toy which unfortunately i had to sell recently due to a house move, and a lack of time for trackdays.
A 1992 Evo1 with weld in cage,390bhp/350ft/lbs engine, plenty of chassis mods, and a matt red wrap.

The BM there is my mates and is a 735 manual with a gt35 hybrid

So with that gone,I wasnt going to have a toy car for a while, but then saw this for sale and had to get it.

Its deluxe. It has a brown dash. I Have some great plans and some great ideas for it,but for now it will just have some wheels, and maybee be lowered, untill I have moved and finances recover enough for the more serious mods.

Couple more piccs. Plans are to keep it stock looking (bar wheels) and stock interior. ABY swap and gt30 or 35 V-banded housing.

Can anyone comment on how strong things are if converted to RWD ? Anyone on here done a Rear drive conversion ?

        Nice clean looking thing that.

I would say don't spoil it converting it to RWD as when you have the ABY lump in there running 400 - 500 bhp to the rear wheels it won't go anywhere and get through loads of tyres....

keep it quattro you wont regret it...

Worth while posting up on the classic-audi forum too, there is quite a lot of the 20vt conversions been done on there.

Oh and wlcome to the forum.....

          Hi

Interesting looking evo, the quattro looks like a nice clean acquisition.

Why rear wheel drive conversion? A few folk have done it by welding the center diff and removing the front axles (leaving a stub to hold the cv together IIRC)

I Found the 80 on classic audi.
I like tail happy cars, thats why I was thinking RWD, the evo had some lairy geo and a tight LSD,so never understeered. The 80 hasnt even got a rear roll bar.
Im sure with a bit of work I can get rid of the understeer though.

Can anyone tell me if an S2 has a LSD rear diff ??

S2 has an open rear diff with a manual lock. Basically the same as the 80q.

A v8 torsen rear diff can be fitted to give power on oversteer, but it is not an lsd and apparently grenades under high torque launches.

There are a few rwd conversion threads on motorgeek, some for fun or drifting. There are good threads on here regarding adjusting understeer/oversteer through various mods.

Stasis might do a proper lsd.

Manual lock is happy days if you ask me. Like a welded diff you can turn off

Is it vacum operated as well ??

yup, turn it on to go sideways in the rain, or dry if you have more power, easy driving the rest of the time.

Just cut the speed sensor wire so the auto unlock at 15mph is disabled (blue/white wire goes to electric box (abs ecu??) under rear seat) on an s2.

s2 one is vacum actuator, I believe the 80q is.

Makes it nice and easy to swap in the S2 one then

Im presuming the s2 one and the 80Q have different crownwheels and therefore different final drive ratio.
