So sorry to the concourse brigade,I didnt paint the block. It doesnt make it any more fun to drive with a spangly bay.
Engine is 99% ready to go in. Just mounting the trigger wheel, but may leave this untill its in the car,so as to be sure the pick up is located away from everthing.

Blanked off the ISV hole on the inlet mani. Dont need that.

Just waiting on a 3b loom for all the connecters and a tps. I decided to have a seperate loom for the engine and aftermarket ecu. That way the ecu can do stuff like fan cut in point ect. Not sure yet whether to use a digital dash from the ecu or the stock instuments. This way I still have the choice.
Im not going to be fitting it perhaps untill later in the year,as space is tight at work due to us installing MOT automated test lane, and a bike MOT bay.

Ive been using the car regularly with no issues exept noticed a clonk from the rear and vauge gearchanges. As the MOT pit is built now I thought id drive it on to have a look. Its one of these

Way easier to use than a ramp, better light ect.

So put the car on to discover this...

It was trying to hold the rear diff,LOL.

It was brand new less than 3 months ago!!! Oh well. To be expected when running rwd only. Obviously pointless just replacing it so one cup of PG later I had a plan. gsf dropped up a new bush and i installed it with a 15mm spacer under it and the cup installed the other way up,so as to squish the bush and eliminate the up/down movement. An extra nut takes car of the free length of the bolt. Did both the diff mounts and both the gearbox mounts like this as well. Diff is now not moving anywhere, and there is still a bit of pliency so its not as vibey as say solid mounting them or polys.
Very pleased as mods like this cost nothing for a massive improvement.

Bloody hell. Ive not updated here for a good while.

So the 15 x 8 wellers I got for it needed 10 mm spacers to clear the front callipers.
That took the front offset to -42 LOL.

Clarly that was silly. You could have changed the brake pads without removing the wheel. Something had to be done.
Bought 5x 1mm cutting disks for angle grinder.
Mounted wheel in tyre machine and mounted the grinder to the arm.

Measured and marked up. Then grew a pair.

Turned the wheel on the tyre machine with the grinder on to make 3 cuts round the rim.

Took a 35 mm band out of the outer dish, which can now be welded to the other side of the centre which gives me an offset of -7 .

Heres the -32 offset next to what the -7 will look like.

Now I can use 90mm wide arches on the rear and 70 mm on the front. They come in 70 or 90 and theyll sit a few mm from the rim.

Back from shotblasting and offset modded on the fronts. Used a proffesional welder who even made a special jig to weld them true.

Had the car off the road for a week or 2 to fit the arches, and have them painted body colour.

Came out nice after cutting out this. Killed two birds here, removed the rot and got a nice wide stance. Front and rear of the arches are solid strangely.

Fitted the arches with plastic coated rivits

Bumper needs to go on,as I also had the rear skirts painted. Typically with all this heat the drivers side window reg packed up. Think the cars paying me back for cutting it up. :nono:

            Bit of an update.

Turbo is a t3/t4 50 trim. I wanted to get a k27 but it was too much money for anything useable. This is a china Ebay job. £150 delivered. Even if it lasts 6 months ill be happy,as it gets it up and running and built up,if it logs itself ill just get a garret one.
Got the audi wastegate though. Just need to weld the t3 flange to the manifold and make up the oil lines. Then when winter comes ill pull the car off the road and start doing the swap.

looking really good. The clearance for the trigger wheel on the front pulley is basically nil in these cars. I have aluminium bars holding the front panel away from the pulley as when it flexes it touches it.
The arches look really good. keep at it and get some videos of the RWD fun.

Good to know about the trigger wheel. Thanks.

Having trouble scourcing a throttle pos senser. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Again sorry for lack of updating. Copy and pasted from classic audi.

Ok,so I couldnt wait till winter. What a total ballache getting a throttle pos senser :shake

Finished as much as i could before starting the swap. T3 outlet flange with V-band for downpipe mounting. Also got a audi wastegate outlet flange from germany, for the dump pipe, which will be to atmo.

Needle roller is in hand, fingers crossed a paddle clutch plate will go in. Then I can get the engine back in the car and start building up exhaust, coolers ect. Managed to get the engine out without cutting any slampanels, and hope to get the 3b in that way too.

Still lots to do,but should get a good few bits coming in the next week or so.

Thanks to techniclutch, who sorted me the clutch. Sent up an old 3b cover and plate and the plate from the kv engine, and they came up with this......

Fitting nicely on the splines of the 016 box.

Package arrived with me two weeks after sending them the parts to match up,with my old parts also inside.
The price was also very agreeable,so happy as.

Now the engine can be fitted, and i can start plumbing.

I make sexy time with car.

Modded KV pas bracket. the pas pump didnt fit with the 3b bracket.

Oil cooler plumbed and located, waiting on rubber mounts.Engine is now oil tight, but cant prime up oil system yet,as the bell housing is loose, due to a snag with the clutch. Box has to come out again,as the friction plate is coming to the end of the splines on the spigot shaft.

Started making the downpipe today. 2.5 inch. V-bands at the top and into the nice 2.5in ,2 silencer system allready fitted to the car. Wastegate dump still to do.

As the 5-3-1 system clouted every pebble on the road, due to it having to go around the front shaft, and with the car being low,ive tucked it right up where the front shaft was.

Will add a flexi before the centre section, and a brace onto the gearbox,to take the weight off the turbo bolts.

Smaller battery is needed as ive cut down the battery tray, just to make all future work on the car easier.
