    Hi all.

Hi all in the S2forum. Thank you for allowing me to join.

New here but been an avid audi fan for many years.
Always wanted my own S2 and it wasn't until I moved to Cyprus that I got the chance to have my own.

I'm not a mechanic sadly and trying to restore my beauty.

    It's 1990 5 speed, 5cyl 2.3 I believe. I don't know if that's the 3B or ABY engine.
The car sat in a garage for 7 years so needed/needs a lot of work done to it. I ve had the engine rebuilt. New clutch etc.

Just been told I need new injector seals. The smell of petrol in the **** pit is very strong.

Can anyone help and point me in the right direction please? Thank you all in advance for any help.

As soon as my S2 is resprayed, I'll post pics :-)

    Good morning and welcome.
I wish you to make true your dream!
If your car has 5 speed gearbox the engine is 2,2 litre 3b engine.
Why do not ask in the local dealer for the seals?I bought them new 2 years ago and they are cheap.

      Good morning Dominator.

      Thank you for your welcome.

I have tried my local Audi dealer in Cyprus but they do not stock sadly nor, that helpful.

So any other info as to where I can purchase would be great thanks.

Welcome and good luck with your S2 adventure, sure someone on here will be able to sort seals out for you. I'll have a look in the shed later might have a set you can have

Hi and welcome to the forum. If your car is a 1990 It would be a very early s2. It should have a 2.2 20v turbo charged 5cyl engine, and it would be a 3b.
If you can smell petrol in the cabin, then there are other things that may be causing that. such as fuel lines, fuel rail leaks. leaks at the back of the inlet manifold where the vacuum lines attach. Also check the fuel pressure regulator. These are good cars ,but they are getting old. Yours is nearly 25years old and if its sat for 7yrs it will need a bit of TLC. This is the place to learn how to do it. Good luck

Moggie's, thanks for the welcome. If you ever plan a trip to Cyprus. Drop me a line

Rikki Kitto, thanks for the wishes and would be very appreciated even for you just looking

220Bhp, thanks for all the info. I've had a local mechanic look over it completely after the engine rebuild. He did say that a few minor things need attention but most importantly, the injector seals need replaced. It is missing slightly above 3K revs.

I'm on the lookout for a new dash as the old one is a bit warped.

It's booked in for a full re spray, wheels and all then all seats recovered. Also a stainless steel exhaust will be fitted.

It will take time time but will be worth it in the end

Hi Aaron to the forum lots of useful information on here and great helpful people!! What colour are you re-spraying your car? They are very addictive if your doing so much work to the car it will be worth checking the sub frames and all the bushes make a big difference to the handling

Hi anthonys2. Thanks for the welcome.

I'm trying to keep it as original possible. So it will be metallic black.

All sub frames and bushes are ok, I'm told they would last a few years more. Though as I'm going this far. Might be a good idea to replace them. Any ideas or sites good for parts?

Take the carpet out of the boot as well, I had one that stunk of petrol but I couldn't trace it.

Eventually I checked the boot and there were 4 holes where the previous owner had self tapped a sub speaker straight into the tank, the mind boggles!

That was back in my smoking days as well!

Smell of petrol. I had this and turned out to be a leak at the top of the petrol tank at one of the vent pipes, should be some pics on my coupe thread. You need to remove the boot carpet then the panel on the RHS to reveal the vents and overflow tank.
Of course the other source of leaks is the fuel pies under the car which rot out where they sit in the clips.
